Some Elkin residents left in the dark

In Elkin Thursday morning a vehicle struck a power pole, according to Duke Energy, resulting in a power outage that has impacted almost 1,000 customers.

The power company reported the outage was first reported at 9:22 a.m. "Outage is caused by vehicle hitting a power pole on North Bridge St near the Elkin PD," the outage alert stated.

Duke Energy also reported they expected service t be restored to Elkin customers today by 1 p.m.
