Elkin falls in first football game of season

Elkin will be lookin for its first win of the 2024 football season on Friday night with its first home game scheduled against West Wilkes.

The Buckin’ Elks kicked off the season on Aug. 23 with an away game against North Wilkes. The Elks fell to the Vikings with a final score of 21-27.

Just up Hwy 268, East Wilkes saw a brighter start to its football season. The Cardinals won, 34-6, against West Wilkes last Friday. East Wilkes will have its first home game this Friday against Surry Central.
