In an effort to ameliorate the deficit status at Bayside RV Park, Commissioners will post revised Park rates, this month. Pending discussion and approval at the Harbor District’s next meeting. The posting is advisory only. The Park reports adjusted net income showing a ($13,836) adjusted net loss.

A comparison with other area parks shows long-term resident back-in rates and long term resident pull through rates ranging from $425 (per 30 days) for Sunset Harbor RV to $525 for Crescent City Mobile Home Park RV (per 30 days). Proposed increases:

    • Nightly (back-in) $55. Nightly (pull through) $65.

    • Weekly (back-in) $350 Weekly (pull-through) $420.

    • Long-term resident 30 days (back-in) $500. Long-term 30 day (pull-through) $600. Commissioners will dedicate approximately 20 vacant spots to build the revenue base.

These rates are proposed only and not yet approved.

Harbor Commission attorney Best, Best and Krieger advised the Commissioners may decline or refuse to accept or handle tenants’ mail. Citing no legal requirement to provide mail service and potential liability issues handling someone else’s mail, the Harbor attorney advised the District of its options.

The Harbor may instead require Park residents to provide their own mailboxes. Currently, tenants may access their mail during a two hour window at the Harbor office.

A group of upset, long term tenants led by Bayside tenant Leonard Franklin expressed several tenants displeasure on a number of grievances concerning Park Maintenance, Restroom cleanliness, potholes in the roads, claims of disrespectful interaction with Harbormaster Tim Petrick and access to the delivery of mail and parcels. Last month, the tenants group met with District president / Commissioner Harry Adams and Gerhard Weber to discuss their complaints and concerns.

Commissioners tabled the mail delivery item until its next meeting. Tuesday, March 19 at 2pm, at the Harbor office.
