Tuscaloosa shoppers can find more than 20,000 deals this week on children's clothing and more during the Little Lambs Consignment Sale .

The sale , which begins Thursday and ends Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 800 Greensboro Ave., features previously owned infant and children’s fall/winter clothing and shoes, nursery items, toys, books and accessories.

Organizers say the semi-annual sale has attracted more and more shoppers since its beginning in 2002. The Little Lambs sale is a ministry of the First United Methodist Church Tuscaloosa. Proceeds from the sale benefit children’s ministries, mission projects and a community grant.

“Little Lambs is the perfect opportunity for parents, grandparents and friends to find deals on gently used clothing, toys, Halloween costumes, strollers, furniture and more,” said Janine McGee, member of the Little Lambs committee.

“While shoppers find amazing buys, a portion of the proceeds also help the FUMCT ministries with resources that benefit children of the church and our community. I personally love that I can buy most of what my child needs for half the year and buy a size up in case he hits an unexpected growth spurt,” McGee said.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Thursday for a preview sale, which offers shoppers a first chance at the items before the general public. Admission to the preview sale costs $5. No strollers will be allowed during the preview sale.

Admission will be free from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The last day of the sale will include most items at half price.

Church members and community volunteers help organize the sale. Volunteer slots are still available, and volunteers are able to shop before the public sale.
