A Tennessee teenager faces a felony charge after a pursuit with law enforcement Saturday morning that began near Gadsden and ended in Tuscaloosa County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The driver took troopers on a chase that covered five counties and involved several other law enforcement agencies.

The pursuit began around 7:30 a.m., when troopers tried to stop a 2023 Nissan Armada in Centre, a city in Cherokee County on the northeast side of Alabama.

When the driver failed to stop, troopers pursued the vehicle south on U.S. 411 before the driver turned onto Interstate 59.  Troopers said the driver then hit two civilian vehicles in Jefferson County.

The pursuit ended at the 77-mile marker in Tuscaloosa County when the Armada left the road when the driver tried to leave Interstate 59. The Armada struck a fence and a building in the process.

The driver of the Armada, identified as a 15-year-old from New Market, Tennessee, was apprehended by troopers after attempting to flee on foot.

The teenager was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with felony eluding.

The news release from ALEA states that no injuries were reported because of the pursuit and no force was used to apprehend the driver.

He’ll be given a pat on back so next time he can really hurt someone. Juvenile court must get tougher so maybe they don’t end up in big house

Death penalty for gang members and repeat offenders. I don't care about age.
