Ryan Williams' 'kill everybody' eye black goes viral in Alabama football win vs Georgia

A two-word phrase went viral during No. 4 Alabama's thrilling game vs. No. 1 Georgia on Saturday.

    And it wasn't "Roll Tide."

The two-word phrase instead came from 17-year-old phenom Ryan Williams , who had the words "kill everybody" inscribed into his eye black against the Bulldogs . Williams' eye black caught the attention of social media around the third quarter, with Alabama nursing a 30-15 lead. It was the precursor of what was coming in the remarkable 41-34 Crimson Tide win .

The true freshman certainly quashed the Bulldogs' chances of pulling off the biggest comeback in program history, giving Alabama a much-needed go-ahead touchdown with 2:18 left in the game. His 75-yard catch-and-run immediately erased the Bulldogs' lead, which it held for all of 13 seconds.

Williams finished the game with six receptions for 177 yards and a touchdown in the Alabama victory.

    Ryan Williams 'kill everybody" reference

Williams' eye black was a significant juxtaposition to college and NFL players who famously wear Bible verses in their eye black, with former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow of Florida likely being the first to come to mind with his "John 3:16" reference coming to the minds of most sports fans.

So what was Williams referencing with his eye black? It likely referenced Alvin Mack and the famous football movie "The Program." The 1993 movie was about "several players from different backgrounds trying to cope with the pressures of playing football at a major university."

In one scene in which Mack is watching film, he breaks down his defensive assignments like so:

"Kill the quarterback. Hit the tight end so hard his girlfriend dies. Kill everybody."

If Williams were facing any pressure as a 17-year-old freshman — who should still be in high school instead of a top-five matchup against Georgia — he didn't show it it. Williams leads Alabama receivers with 16 receptions for 462 yards and five touchdowns this season.
