SEC Power Rankings: Georgia, Texas, Tennessee shake up the SEC's top tier

Georgia is back on top in the SEC? We've seen this movie, right? Just a new villain — Texas, instead of Alabama — in the sequel this time. Bevo got pushed around for the first time this season, and the Bulldogs reclaimed the top of the hill in the power rankings. After that, it's a logjam of one-loss teams all thinking "we're in the playoffs," when around half of them won't be.

Onto the rankings!

1. Georgia (6-1)

Last week : 2

This week : Idle

What to know: The Beatles can sum up Georgia this week: Get back, get back, get back to where you once belonged .

2. Texas (6-1)

Last week : 1

This week : at Vanderbilt

What to know: Texas fans threw debris on the field over a controversial call, got admonished by Steve Sarkisian, took a paddling from Georgia, and found out they don't cheer for the best team in the country. Rough night to be a Longhorn.

3. Tennessee (6-1)

This week : Idle

What to know: The Vols made sure to engineer a second-half comeback for the second week in a row, and Knoxville police made sure the Neyland goalposts didn't end up in the Tennessee River again.

4. Texas A&M (6-1)

This week : vs. LSU

What to know: This is what Jimbo's last A&M team was supposed to look like , right?

5. LSU (6-1)

Last week : 4

This week : at Texas A&M

What to know: Tigers vs. Aggies this week, in a game nobody thought would pit the SEC's last two teams with a zero in the league loss column.

6. Missouri (6-1)

This week : at Alabama

What to know: The Missouri offense is a sportscar when Brady Cook is at the wheel, a Ford Pinto when he's not, and it took a mid-game truck ride to the hospital to prove it.

7. Alabama (5-2)

Last week : 6

This week : vs. Missouri

What to know: This isn't your grandfather's Alabama team, but it might be your father's .

What to know: If Vanderbilt fans let Texas fans take over FirstBank Stadium three weeks after beating Alabama, the whole program should hit the transfer portal .

What to know: Florida was supposed to be Kentucky's get-right game, not the other way around .

11. South Carolina (4-3)

What to known : The Gamecocks blew out Oklahoma , and blew up talk radio in Norman.

What to know: Welcome Jackson Arnold back to the lineup. But only for the moment .

What to know: If the Fighting Pittmans can't get a win in Starkville, even the barbeque will taste bad .
