Megan Moroney confirms Morgan Wallen dating rumors and reveals how they kept romance ‘private’ on Call Her Daddy podcast

COUNTRY music star Megan Moroney has opened up about her love life during an episode of Call Her Daddy, confirming rumors she had dated the controversial country singer.

While discussing past flings and toxic relationships with CHD host Alex Cooper , Megan revealed how she first met Morgan and why their romance ran its course.

On Wednesday, Alex Cooper released the latest Call Her Daddy episode.

The episode, titled Cheating, Cowgirls, & Chaos featured guest Megan Moroney.

Megan opened up about her rise to fame and finally revealed what happened between her and Morgan Wallen .

About 30 minutes into the episode, Alex abruptly turns to Megan to get the details.

HOPE YOU’RE HAPPY

“Okay so Megan,” she said, pausing for dramatic effect.

“Did you date Morgan Wallen?” she asked.

“Never exclusively,” Megan answered, right before the duo erupted into laughter.

“And goodbye,” Alex said, jokingly acting as if the interview was finished.

“And scene,” Megan said, before adding, “Oh my God thank you so much, it’s been so much fun.”

She then slightly rose from her chair, pretending she was going to get up and leave.

“And goodbye everyone,” Alex said, turning towards Megan and adding, “Let’s go talk off-camera.”

The duo continued to laugh before resuming their conversation.

“Okay interesting, so not exclusively,” Alex said, nodding her head.

“I think it was obvious, and that’s why I do appreciate you being honest because I feel like everyone kind of knows,” Alex continued.

Morgan Wallen's legal issues and controversies

The country singer has faced several public backlashes and arrests over the years.

• 2016: Wallen was charged with a DUI but the case was later dismissed.

• May 23, 2020: He was kicked out of a Nashville bar then arrested and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

• October 2020: A video of Wallen parting and making out with girls without a mask during lockdown in Alabama surfaced online.

• October 7, 2020: His debut appearance on SNL was canceled due to the video and he later released an apology video on Instagram.

• February 2, 2021: A video of Wallen referring to his friend using the N-word was shared online.

• February 3, 2021: He was pulled from radio stations, suspended by his record label, and posted an apology video a week later.

• October 28, 2021: He was banned from attending and receiving awards at the American Music Awards.

• April 23, 2023: He canceled his concert in Mississippi moments before the show was set to start and said this was because he had lost his voice.

• April 25, 2023: A concertgoer filed a federal lawsuit against the country singer for breach of contract and negligence.

It’s no surprise that two of the biggest names in country music were, at one point, romantically involved with each other.

“I have so tried to avoid that [question] in every single interview I’ve ever done,” Megan replied.

“But you’re here now,” Alex said, continuing to laugh.

“But we’re here now, and time has passed, and all is well still,” Megan said.

Alex then asked the question Megan’s fans had been desperate to know, whether her hit song Tennessee Orange was, in fact, about Morgan.

“I won’t say who my songs are about ever,” Megan said, before adding, “well, I’ll never name names.”

HE FEELS LIKE HOME

Megan Moroney and Morgan Wallen first sparked dating rumors following the release of Megan’s hit single, Tennessee Orange, in September 2022.

Fans quickly pointed out several references to Wallen in the song’s lyrics, starting with, “I met somebody and he’s got blue eyes.”

The song’s lyrics also confirmed Megan’s new man wasn’t from her hometown of Savannah, Georgia , “He ain’t from where we’re from.”

Morgan was born and raised in Sneedville, Tennessee , and sold his Nashville home in 2021 following the release of a controversial video filmed on his driveway.

“In Georgia, they call it a sin / I’m wearing Tennessee orange for him,” Megan sings.

Megan also addressed the rumors while promoting her song, confirming that she was wearing Morgan’s Tennessee Volunteers shirt in an Instagram snap.

“Y’all know I wouldn’t leave ya hangin… TENNESSEE ORANGE OUT NEXT FRIDAY,” she captioned the August 24, 2022 post, next to an orange heart emoji.

When asked whether Morgan had any songs about her, Megan shrugged.

“I have no idea,” she answered.

“Lies, lies, lies,” Alex responded.

Alex wasn’t just shooting down Megan’s answer – she was likely referencing Morgan’s latest hit single, Lies Lies Lies.

HABITS AND HARD HEARTBREAKS

“Lies, lies, lies / Look into my eyes, eyes, eyes / I’m still a fool for you,” Morgan sings, about what many fans believe to be Megan.

Alex then asks Megan why the duo called it quits.

“Okay, so it was never a relationship,” Megan answered, adding, “Here’s what I’ll tell you though.”

“I haven’t told anyone this ever,” she added, as Alex’s eyes widened.

“So him and I met in 2020, Jon Langston actually introduced us,” she said.

Jon Langston is another country artist, known for his breakthrough EP, Showtime.

“So I was a senior in college, Covid hadn’t happened yet, his Dangerous album wasn’t even out yet,” she continued.

Morgan released his second studio album, Dangerous: The Double Album, on January 8, 2021.

“We were friends for a long time, then we were not just friends, and now we’re friends,” Megan said.

“So you guys had like, a little thing?” Alex questioned.

“Yeah, no, never officially dating,” Megan replied, before turning her head to the side, smirking slightly.

“But as we talked about, Megan, those can be the worst,” Alex added.

“Yeah I will say if anyone is like, overly sensitive…will get their heart broken, it’s me,” Megan said.

“How did you keep something like that, that private?” Alex asked.

“I feel like it wasn’t that hard…I feel like he’s a very private person,” Megan replied.

“Like I said, we weren’t exclusively dating ever, and I think both of our schedules… like we have insane…” Megan said.

“When we try to hang out, it’s like okay, we have this one day out of the whole month when we’re both maybe in town…” she continued, trailing off.

“But him and I are friends,” Megan said, nodding her head.

“Honestly, because he’s such a private person, it just feels awkward to talk about,” she added.

AM I OKAY?

Alex then asked another major question lingering in everyone’s mind – whether Megan was currently in a relationship.

“I am so single right now,” Megan responded, laughing.

“I love it, I sleep so good. Nobody’s son is stressing me out. I’m in REM sleep every night,” she continued.

“All of my free time is being spent with my girlfriends and I can enjoy being in the moment,” Megan added.

“Like I said, I’m very sensitive, and when I do date someone, if we’re having problems or whatever, it really does affect me.”

Megan then opened up about balancing her emotions while performing in front of her fans.

“I have a song called Hell of a Show, and it was really hard, I would literally cry before I go on stage, I would perform [the song], and then I would cry myself to sleep,” she revealed.

“Keep it together, I can keep it together / For the room full of people here who love me better,” Megan sings, referring to the “show” she puts on while performing.

“‘Cause I’ll smile and I’ll sing and I’ll wave and repeat / And tonight I’ll cry myself to sleep,” she sings, echoing her previous statement.

“That was very difficult for me,” she added, referencing her past relationships.

“And I’m way happier single, for now at least,” she continued.

While she isn’t looking for anyone new at the moment, Alex wouldn’t let Megan leave without asking her a few more questions – including what qualities she looks for in a potential boyfriend.

“Personality-wise, I love when someone can match my humor,” Megan revealed.

“I realized with my last boyfriend that humor is very important to me,” she continued, adding, “Humor is my weakness.”

Morgan may not be a comedian , but the singer does have a funny bone when it comes to some of his more controversial actions , including his public response following his Nashville arrest in April.
