Steve Harvey fires back ‘you can’t be that dumb!’ in shock at case on court show as fans defend contestant

STEVE Harvey has delivered a harsh verdict on the latest episode of his courtroom show as fans rushed to defend the contestant.

The 67-year-old presenter returned as Judge Steve Harvey for Wednesday night’s episode of the comedy court reality show.

The series follows the Family Feud host as he presides over real-life court cases before giving his neutral, third-party opinion on the matter.

The latest episode included a dispute between feuding exes as well as the plight of a former employee seeking lost wages and a neighbor upset over his damaged mailbox.

Ultimately, it was the portion concerning the former lovers that delivered the most drama, with Steve coming down heavily on a man who scammed his much older girlfriend.

When it was claimed that 98% of everything the man told his girlfriend had been a lie, the contestant responded that it was more like 70%.

“You think that’s good?” Steve hit back.

“You standing here saying 70% of everything you said is a lie. What good is the 30?” he continued. “You can’t be this dumb.”

It emerged that the defendant had lied about his age, as Steve declared that his comment gave him away.

“You 32 years old boy. If you were really 40, you wouldn’t have said that.”

However, some fans came to the contestant’s defence after a clip from the show was posted on Instagram.

“She should have been smarted and known that he was not the man for her,” one user offered their own take on the matter.

“He’s a player,” they continued. “No money an [sic] 30-year age gap.”

Last month, Judge Steve Harvey viewers criticized its host for cosplaying another famous TV personality, Judge Judy, on the show.

Speaking to TV Insider, Steve discussed what he would bring to the series after years of hosting shows such as Family Feud, Celebrity Family Feud, and The Steve Harvey Morning Show.

“I knew I had to just be myself. Most judges are interested in the law: These are the facts, and that’s it,” he said.

“I’m going to dig up the story behind why people came to court vs. what they’re in court for.”

Steve added he would channel “decades of experience dealing with all types of situations and people,” while relying on his “street savvy, common sense, and humor to get it done”, as the show’s judge.

Judge Steve Harvey returns next Wednesday (July 7).
