Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared tips for defying the signs of aging .
KEEP SKIN MOISTURIZED IN YOUR 20S
Patel said an effective moisturizer is the most important product to use from your early 20s onwards.
“If you are already using sunscreen on top of your moisturizer, then something with hyaluronic acid is perfect,” he said.
“Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body, so it’s compatible with the body and, therefore, won’t compromise your skin or cause blemish outbreaks.
“It also helps plump the skin to give it a lovely, fresh look.”
INTRODUCE VITAMIN A IN YOUR 30S
Hyaluronic acid should continue to be used in your 30s and beyond, but consider also introducing retinol.
“This combination works well,” Patel said. “Retinol increases skin cell production (proliferation).
“It also helps unclog pores, exfoliates your skin, and increases collagen production, while hyaluronic acid replenishes the skin and hydrates.”
EXFOLIATE ROUTINELY IN YOUR 40S
A “higher-strength” retinol used alongside hyaluronic acid is recommended for anti-aging in the 40s.
“However, they may require extra support due to hormonal imbalances for conditions such as dry, flaky skin or blemish outbreaks,” he went on.
“A good granular exfoliator will pay dividends in removing dead skin cells and encouraging the emergence of youthful-looking, glowing skin.
“Moisturize your neck and hands with a cream specifically designed to target these areas, as their formulation will be different and require some TLC to keep them looking good.”
BRIGHTEN DULL SKIN IN YOUR 50S
Skincare in your 50s is almost the same as in the previous decade but should be tailored as your skin’s needs change.
“I really like Vitamin C as an addition,” Patel said.
Ceramides are a super ingredient.

“It has a brightening effect on the skin and renews collagen, both of which make for younger-looking skin.”
LAYER HYDRATION IN YOUR 60S
Skin becomes thinner as we age, Patel warned, so from the 60s upwards a thicker moisturizer may be needed.
“I recommend focusing on hydration with the layering of moisturizing serums followed by a light moisturizing cream,” he said.
“Ceramides are a super ingredient at this age.”
“They help replenish the naturally occurring ceramides in the superficial layer of the skin, supporting the skin barrier and helping to elevate any dryness or sensitivity that can be an issue with more mature skin.”
Amish previously shared the correct order to apply skincare products with The U.S. Sun.
He said cleanser should be used before applying a “hydrating serum and SPF.”
At night, only use a rich moisturizer if the skin needs it.
He added that products with a thicker consistency should be applied after serums for effective absorption.
