Who is Lin-Yu Ting’s Olympics boxing opponent Julia Szeremet?
Julia was born in Poland and started training in karate at the age of 5.
However, it wasn’t long before she traded karate for boxing.
She had a meteoric rise to success and became the Polish champion in the 60 kg category in 2022.
At the Paris Olympics, she will be representing Poland in their first final since a silver medal win in 1980.
Julia is guaranteed a bronze medal, which will also be Poland’s first boxing bronze since 1992.
Her unique style of boxing has taken her far, in her bid to win gold.
The special tactic involves purposefully lowering her guard in order to outwit opponents.
By lowering her hands and provoking her opponents, she knows when they will strike.
This allows her to quickly dodge their oncoming strike and retaliate.
It’s a clever strategy that has taken her right to the top of women’s 57kg boxing.
