I transformed my downstairs bathroom for just £7.50 using Wickes buys – everyone says it looks stunning now

A SINGLE mum has revealed how she managed to completely renovate her downstairs bathroom for just £7.50.

By doing everything herself and looking out for cheap bargains from Wickes, the mum has completely transformed her bathroom, and now it “looks stunning.”

Having just £10 to renovate her bathroom, the mum revealed on her TikTok page called ‘Mummy Budgets’ that she bought a dado rail from Wickes, while also getting a mitre box to help cut it.

A mitre box is a woodworking appliance used to guide a hand saw to ensure precision in the cuts before sticking it to her wall.

She then got a spirit level from Poundland to ensure that it was straight, and the mum managed to get it “spot on.”

However, the mum did point out that she made a mistake with the measurements, so she had to “cut a tiny bit” at the end.

The young woman then revealed that she used some leftover pink paint from her daughter's room.

But when she started painting the wall of her bathroom, she said it was “so watery” the paint was splashing everywhere.

To help thicken it up, the mum added cornstarch to the mixture.

To get the paint neatly around the bathroom items, like the toilet roll or towel holder, it is best to use a smaller paintbrush for precision.

However, she did not have one of these, so she used a tiny paintbrush that is usually made for artwork.

Taking to TikTok, she shared her halfway results, which showed half of her wall painted pink, as well as her dado railing she stuck on.

The mum then revealed that she had some leftover wallpaper, which had a green leaf print on it, which she thought was perfect for the top half of her wall.

She then added a gold mirror, which she transferred from her landing, as the mum thought “it looked better” in there.

The mum says: “Total cost was £7.50, which was for the dado, and the rest was leftovers from other projects. I'm trying to use up things I already have.”

The video has since gained a lot of attention, with many rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

“Wow that’s beautiful, you’ve done a smashing job,” gasped a DIY fan.

“That looks so amazing!” another said.

A third wrote: “I think it looks great for the cost. Love the wallpaper.”

While someone else said: “What a big impact for such a small amount spent! Lots of good lessons being demonstrated to your kid: budgeting, not giving in to consumerism, DIY, improvisation with what you have, and creativity!!”

Copper has replaced rose gold, whilst blush is the new magnolia, and Brits are also going bold by slapping black paint all over their walls.

Green is always popular colour, but the shade ‘Fresh Herb’ – a versatile, pale grey-toned green - is hitting hundreds of customers baskets.

Meanwhile, terracotta is taking over with ‘Frosted Papaya’, a peachy orange shade dominating bathrooms.
