The teaser trailer focused almost entirely on actor Lee Jung-jae, 51, as the show’s main character Seong Gi-hun.

He stood against a black background while sporting one of the show’s iconic green jumpsuits.

Other players were also included in the trailer, the camera focusing only on their contestant number without revealing their identities.

In the teaser’s final moments, a serious Seong Gi-hun turns around and faces the camera before the tagline “The Real Game Begins” fills the screen.

It ended with The Squid Game 2 logo being revealed along with the show’s Netflix streaming date of December 26.

The teaser was posted on X , formally Twitter.

Fans weighed in on the Season 2 release date in the post’s comment thread.

One person tweeted, “Already forgot everything about Season 1. Why did they take so much time?”

“Took too long. We don’t want it,” agreed another.

“3 years…,” reminded a third as a fourth claimed, “Too late, we don’t care anymore.”

Not every response was negative, however, as one person wrote, “We will be tuned in” and another begged, “Can it be December already?”

    SERIES SECURED

Earlier this month, the future of Netflix’s hit show Squid Game was confirmed after the streamer gave a first look at the upcoming series.

Squid Game became a surprise hit for the service when it launched three years ago in 2021.

The series captivated fans across the globe and became the site’s biggest-ever show in an unexpected move of success.

    EXCITING NEW SEASON

The short teaser featured an Olympics-style theme and showed a track race going awry, as dozens of the Squid Game contestants in their distinctive green tracksuits raced to survive.

The show’s success spawned a reality competition series called Squid Game: The Challenge.

Recently, actor Lee Jung-jae teased what fans can expect from series 2.

In an interview with RadioTimes, Lee admitted, “I think the script for Season 2 is even more interesting than Season 1, and there is going to be a new set of characters as well.

“So I think the audience is going to be really excited about it.

“One thing I felt while reading the script is that there is an even deeper emotion that’s discovered within season 2, and also I think the audience will feel like, ‘Where is this story going?’

“Because there’s so many twists and turns that happen.”
