Fortnite fans shocked after Epic reveals new Marvel and Disney skins

Disney’s big fan convention, D23, took place over the weekend, and it came with a host of huge announcements.

Along with announcements for new Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel films and television shows, there were also some surprise announcements for fans of Fortnite.

After previously having announced a partnership with Disney, Fortnite developer Epic Games took the stage at D23 to announce a brand-new season of Fortnite.

The new season, which will be Chapter 5 Season 4 and subtitled Absolute Doom, is entirely themed around Marvel, and will see the introduction of Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom.

Players will be able to become the hero and fight against Doom and his lackeys, or team up with the evil Doctor for some mischievous fun.

There will also be Marvel-themed weapons in the season, including Captain America’s shield and War Machine’s arsenal.

In addition to the theming of the season, Chapter 5 Season 4 will include a Marvel-themed Battle Pass, with the following seven skins unlockable for players:

• Gwenpool (unlocked right away!)
• War Machine
• Peelverine
• Emma Frost
• Captain Jonesy
• Mysterio
• Shuri

A Doctor Doom skin will be available to unlock later in the season via Battle Pass Quests, as well as a Sabertooth Meowscles and a Fishpool skin available to purchase.

In addition to all of the Marvel goodness coming to Fortnite, Epic and Disney also announced a host of skins from Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars.

The Disney skins are all villains, and include Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent, all of which will be available in Fall 2024.

Pixar’s skins are instead focused on The Incredibles, with Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone all coming to Fortnite as new skins in the Fall.

Finally, Epic is bringing more Star Wars cosmetics to Fortnite, with two Mandalorian skins – IG-11 and Moff Gideon – and a Grogu back bling coming August 12, 2024.

Fortnite fans were able to grab free Disney cosmetics during the live-stream crossover, but don’t worry if you missed out, as the event is still running in-game.

The news comes after a big change to Fortnite cosmetics, where Epic announced it would bring Battle Pass items to the Fortnite shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass ended.

It also comes after an embarrassing item shop mess-up that saw Fortnite players grabbing an ultra-rare skin and subsequently being refunded — though thankfully they were able to keep the skin.
