GOOGLE has officially unveiled its brand new Pixel smartphones in all their glory – and it’s gone big on AI like most of their rivals.

There are four versions of this year’s Pixel, including an updated foldable device that crams an 8-inch display in your pocket.

Aside from the main Pixel 9, it’s the first time the Pro model comes in two different sizes, a Pixel 9 Pro which is 6.3-inches and a Pixel 9 Pro XL at 6.8-inches.

Google was forced to reveal images of the fresh Pixel line-up early after a number of leaks .

This includes a new “camera bar” bulge along the back to house the lens and flash light.

But at a launch event today, Android fans got a full view and look at all the new features.

The devices are brighter, more powerful and pack improved batteries, according to Google.

Battery lasts up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver switched on, the firm also claims.

The company’s new AI voice-assistant Gemini Live will be available on the Pro, Pro XL and Pro Fold models too, free for a year.

The firm says you can have a “free-flowing conversation” with the tech, which allows you to change subject mid-conversation and respond to more than basics like general knowledge or setting a timer.

In terms of the camera, Google has stuck to a 50-megapixel main snapper but has upped the ultrawide lens to 48-megapixels.

Among the new tools are some game-changing photography features.

    ALL IN AI

The one that’s gained most attention already after it leaked is the Add Me.

Add Me allows you to take the perfect group photo of friends.

Rather than missing out in appearing the snap, you can take the photo, then get a friend to take the reins with you in view – Add Me then magically adds you into the main photo without any technical knowledge or work required.

The AI goodies also extend to your phone calls, with Call Notes that listen to your conversation and create a private summary of what was said, so you don’t have to stress about remembering or taking notes.

Clear Calling also improves audio quality compared to earlier Pixels, Google says.

Even taking a screenshot is more helpful now with a new Pixel Screenshots app that helps you save, organize and recall important information you want to remember for later.

Pixel Screenshots will analyze the content within screenshots and make the information searchable for you in the app, identifying things like images of a cat without you having to tag it.

    Google Pixel 9 free perks

Google is giving away a number of free extras with every purchase of a Pixel 9

This includes Google VPN for added security.

Gemini Live is usually a paid service but you can access it for free for a year on the Pro, Pro XL and Pro Fold models.

It’s part of the Google One AI Premium, which also comes with 2TB of cloud storage.
