“My daughter started a home bakery,” she said in the video . “I joined in to help her a little bit and she hired her brother to do the selling.”

Steph claimed that this side hustle brings in approximately $700 per week.

Steph and her two children make eight dozen chocolate chip cookies using Nestle’s Tollhouse recipe every weekday.

“We make the dough early in the morning so it has time to chill, package in the evening, and that’s what we sell the next day,” she explained.

She also mentioned some personal touches that customers really seem to enjoy.

For example, each cookie is individually wrapped in cling wrap which reassures clients that the small business owners care about safety precautions.

Her current rate is $20 per dozen.

She even admitted that her rate might be considered pretty steep to some people, but the key is to find customers who are willing to pay that much for homemade products.

After some trial and error, the family realized that blue-collar men were their top buyers. She sells regularly to men who work as painters or plumbers in her neighborhood.

Peak selling time for the family business is between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm when people are “hungry,” “tired,” and ready for the day to “come to a close.”

“$20 seems to be the magic price. Everybody’s got a $20 in their wallet,” she said.

    “We’re clearing a $140 a day. That’s not riches, but it’s a good little side hustle.”

    SIDE GIG SURGE

According to Forbes , side hustles are thriving in today’s tough economy .

According to a new study conducted by One Poll on behalf of Herbalife, 40% of Americans are turning to side hustles and 48% of them started solely to make ends meet.

The extra income made from side hustles may need to be reported to the IRS.

If you receive more than $600 in gross payouts from a selling platform like eBay, the site will issue you a Form 1099-K to use in your tax return.

Individuals should calculate their adjusted gross income, taxable earnings, and deductions for the year.

Once they have that, they can use the 1040-ES form to calculate estimated taxes.

With inflated prices, it’s not surprising that people are searching for a second source of income .

For others, it’s an opportunity to work on a passion project and market it simultaneously.

Side hustles provide networking opportunities or the chance to socialize and meet new people.

Many times, those with side hustles prefer remote work and hybrid schedules.

Meanwhile, a TikToker revealed his secret to making thousands of dollars as a side gig during high school.

Another TikToker shared his secret to making extra cash by completing only a single online course .
