The two MLB squads were tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Guardians slugger Jhonkensy Noel clobbered a 430-foot homerun.

Cubs starting pitcher Drew Smyly threw a breaking ball that didn’t break to the 23-year-old Noel.

Bally Sports analyst Rick Manning, who calls Guardians games, shared a stunning line about how Smyly should feel about his pitch to Noel.

“Oh, Smyly. He wants to kill himself,” Manning said.

“He hung him a breaking ball and boy, Noel took advantage of it.”

Fans weren’t pleased with the MLB announcer’s remark concerning Smyly.

    “So unhinged,” one commented.

“Absolutely disgusting call,” a second wrote.

    “Tasteless call,” a third posted.

“Spewing gibberish and a suicide reference. Cool… So glad I fell out of love with baseball ,” a fourth added.

Noel’s homer proved to be the winning run for Cleveland.

After the game, the Guardians’ social media team seemed to realize Manning’s insensitive call and posted a clip of the home run with a voiceover from radio play-by-play broadcaster Tom Hamilton .

Manning didn’t release an on-air apology on the matter.

The 69-year-old played for Cleveland from 1975-1983 during his MLB career.
