Ann Dell, of Georgia, has long relied on Sears for her appliances, she told local ABC affiliate WSB.

For many years, she’s had a Sears Protect Home Warranty covering her appliances.

But now, she’s been struggling to get Sears to pay for her broken clothes dryer.

She claimed to call the company over 100 times.

    LOYAL CUSTOMER

Dell sad she was confused by the changes that have hit the company.

“I don’t understand,” she told the local news. “Everything at Sears has changed.”

The company’s website shows a variety of plans consumers can pay for if they buy Sears appliances.

The deal is clear — pay for the warranty and Sears will repair or replace your appliances.

However, the company has been declining for decades.

It now only has 11 stores left.

While huge swaths of the country — including all of Georgia — no longer have a local Sears, shoppers can still qualify for the warranty, which is available “in most zip codes nationwide.”

The warranty can be expensive. Dell said it cost her around $700 a year.

Local consumer reporting uncovered that Sears has been trying to send Dell a replacement dryer.

    SEARS STRUGGLES

Once an omnipresent force in American malls, Sears has dwindled significantly.

At one point it was the largest retailer in the country, but slowly declined over decades.

In 2018, when the company still had 700 stores, the company filed for bankruptcy.

Earlier this year, it closed its last remaining store in the New York City area.

Another is closing in California this week.

That will leave just 10 stores remaining.

The collapse of Sears as a retail titan dragged down traffic at many malls across the country.

Some Sears locations even been doomed to serve as temporary Halloween stores.
