Fortnite finally returns to iPhones but only for some players – as Epic Games launches its own app store

FORTNITE is one of the most popular games in the world as gamers have gone wild for the free-to-play battle royale.

While Android owners have been able to enjoy Fortnite on mobile for years, Apple users have been missing out after Epic Games was removed from the App Store.

While iOS players could still access Fortnite via the cloud or browser for the last few years, most people prefer playing it directly.

Developer Epic Games got in a legal battle with Apple over payment methods, as Apple takes a cut of all purchases made in games via the App Store.

This often increases the price of in-game purchases on mobile compared to their PC counterparts.

Epic claimed that it wanted to have price parity across all versions of Fortnite, which is why the game was removed from iPhones and iPads.

Last month, Epic Games announced that Fortnite would be returning to Apple products alongside other games like Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe with the introduction of the Epic Games Store app.

While Fortnite will appear natively on iPhones for the first time since 2021, this is the first time that Fall Guys will be available on mobile.

The Epic Games Store app is available now worldwide for Android, and in the EU for iOS.

However, there are plans to introduce the app for iOS in other regions in the future.

To celebrate Fortnite’s return to iOS, Epic Games has released a new skin that is free for all players to claim and use.

The Katalina skin can be claimed on iOS by playing five matches on mobile and completing the in-game quests.

It will also be added to the Item Store for free for all players, no matter your platform or region at a later date.

The Katalina skin is free to claim until November 2, 2024, so we expect it to become available before then.

If you want to install Fortnite on either Android and iOS there are just a few steps that you need to follow.

Before you can install Fortnite on mobile, you first need to download the Epic Games Store app on your phone.

Visit fortnite.com/download on your device or scan the QR code on the PC webpage.

Make sure that your device allows the Epic Games Store to set up its marketplace and click the prompt to install.

Remember that it is currently available on iOS only inside the EU, but it is expected to come to the UK in the second half of 2025.
