PAT McAfee struggled to hold himself together after a guest’s phone overheated during the show.

Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers reporter Mark Kaboly was only hired as a regular guest on McAfee’s ESPN show this week, shortly after he was fired by the Athletic.

And he’s already giving viewers good comedy value, with his phone playing tricks on him.

“You can’t even script it any better than this, right?” Kaboly said.

“My phone overheated. Unbelievable. Shut down.”

McAfee was happy to see the funny side, as he so often does.

“It’s because you’re hot in the streets Mark,” McAfee said.

“You’re hot in the streets right now pal, it’s radiating through your phone.”

Kaboly announced at the start of this week that he was no longer with the Athletic.

“Well, looks like I just became a free agent,” he posted on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

“If anybody is looking for a veteran Steelers/NFL writer with 22 years of experience, feel free to reach out to me. DMs are open.”

As it happens, Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith was on the program as a guest on Wednesday.

McAfee took the opportunity to ask Smith about Kaboly.

“You guys have a moment of silence over there for Mark Kaboly getting fired off the beat?” McAfee asked.

“He is highly regarded around here… if I was betting I’d bet that he’ll find a way to have success,” Smith said.

“We’ve already hired him,” McAfee responded.

“When you see that Kaboly, you know, ‘Destined for success.’

With this season’s schedule now revealed, eager NFL fans are looking to secure tickets to their favorite games.

You can start buying tickets for some games on several sites now:

Before purchasing tickets on resale websites check pricing as they are third-party sellers and, importantly, the cost can vary depending on demand. You may pay more than an official ticket, though you can also get good last-minute deals too.

But if you can’t be there in person, don’t worry, there’s still time to set up your stream before the season starts.

You can also keep up to date with the latest NFL coverage right here at The U.S. Sun.

“This is a public proclamation that Kobaly’s going to be A-OK.

“He’s going to cover the Steelers and the NFL as a whole.”

Kaboly responded to the announcement on X with the simplest of responses, “Let’s GOOOO.”

And we won’t have to wait long for Kaboly to be making pronouncements on regular season Steelers games.

Pittsburgh kick off their 2024 campaign against the Atlanta Falcons on September 8th.
