I hated my engagement ring – it was, like our relationship, all about him, but I still wear it even though we split

A FORMERLY engaged woman has revealed why she still wears her engagement ring even though it reminds her of her selfish ex-fiance.

She admitted that their relationship was all about him, but she can’t let go of the ring he gave her when he proposed.

Reddit user AmbitiousYetMoody opened up about the story behind her engagement ring in a post .

“The ring, like our relationship, was all about him,” she said.

She shared a photo of the ring on her hand, explaining the color and style were not her choice.

The piece featured a deep blue stone flanked by small diamonds on what appeared to be a white gold or platinum band.

“The blue? His favorite color,” she said. “[It] wasn’t really what I wanted.”

The Reddit user admitted that it was a “compromise” because she was “so excited to be engaged.”

Other users thought the stone was a sapphire, but she explained that it was actually blue topaz.

“The ring is pretty, I think, but for me, it’s the memories associated with it that make me not like it as much,” she said.

One Redditor pointed out that it was “rude” of her ex to cater to his wants when it came to her ring.

“Don’t worry. It didn’t work out and he got married to some other woman within a year,” she replied.

“Hopefully, they are a better match than we were and he has since improved!”

Even though they are no longer together, and he is married to someone else, she continues to wear the jewelry as a “normal ring.”

“It still has a lot of sentimental value because the stones were purchased from my parents’ honeymoon and repurposed into the ring,” she said.

However, she admitted that it was a “constant visual reminder that he was always first” in their “toxic dynamic.”

She has since “assigned a new meaning to the ring” and wears it “every now and then.”

Other Redditors offered their two cents and supportive words.

“That is a GORGEOUS ring, everything else aside,” one wrote.

“It’s really gorgeous, but I’m sad you didn’t get your dream ring,” another agreed.
