A COUPLE has told of their nightmare vacation, claiming they were almost murdered by their Airbnb host.

Laura Valm and her boyfriend Ryan were soaking up the sun in the Bahamas when their Airbnb host allegedly tried to stab them with a double-edged knife.

Valm posted two TikToks detailing the heart-stopping altercation with the host, who she called Jan.

Jan’s property cost the duo $168 per night and was said to have “private and peaceful” views, according to The Daily Mail.

Valm said all seemed to be normal at first, aside from the fact that Jan was a little peculiar.

“We get there, the hosts are fine, they are friendly they are nice. Mind you a bit quirky with some of the things they are saying,” Valm recalled.

“He told us the CIA was watching him, they own a mushroom farm, so we're thinking maybe they're dipping into their own supply.”

Valm said the first day her and her boyfriend spent in Nassau, Bahamas, was interrupted by Jan.

The couple was relaxing on the beach when Jan continuously intruded on their time, an interaction she described as “weird.”

“[He was] very weird, very quirky - our alarm bells were going off. But again, we weren't feeling threatened,” she recounted.

Jan eventually left the couple alone, which Valm suspected was his wife’s doing.

The couple didn’t run into their host again until they returned from the beach, and Jan invited them into his home.

“As we are walking back, we have to go through their back gate as our cottage as at the front.

“As we are going through, he comes out and is like 'Hey guys, do you want to come in?'”

Valm and her boyfriend accepted the odd host’s invitation, but once they stepped into the home, Jan brought up the controversial topic of Israel and Iran.

The woman said he started by pulling something up online about the situation between the two countries.

In response to what Jan was showing the couple, Ryan said: “I don't think so, there is a lot of countries in between I don't think that'll happen.”

That comment allegedly triggered the host, causing him to burst out in a fit of anger.

“He just snapped, just snapped: he pushed my boyfriend, we think he punched him.

“He dropped a wine glass, [he] is losing his mind shouting and screaming 'get out of my house.”

Valm said she attempted to clean up the wine glass so the two could leave, when a worker for the couple arrived to try and help with the situation.

That’s when Valm said Jan pulled out a double-edged sword then sliced her boyfriend’s hand with it.

“Ryan pushes out the door, we ran around the side of the house. We are running, Jan goes out the front door so he cuts us off– I booked it through to the road.

“My boyfriend is beside us, we then see the worker spurting blood all over the place.”

Valm said she was able to flag down two locals for help when she reached the main road.

When assistance was on the way, she took the injured worker to a nearby military base for medical help.

Valm later said Airbnb took down the listing, and she’s pleading Vrbo to do the same thing.

“We were stunned to learn about this reported incident. We immediately removed the host from the platform and have been providing our guests with our support,” Airbnb told The U.S. Sun.

The company confirmed it refunded Valm and moved her to the new location, a spokesperson for Airbnb said there were no prior complaints about the host.

“Safety incidents during stays in Airbnb listings are rare," a spokesperson for the company said.

"We have implemented a range of measures to support our community, including a 24 Hour Safety Line for users to reach our specialized Safety team during a stay, an in-app local emergency services feature to connect users to local law enforcement, safety features for solo travelers, assistance under Aircover for guests, and partnering with experts, including through our Trust and Safety Advisory Coalition, to help inform our work.”

The U.S. Sun has contacted police in Nassau for comment.
