Shopper Christopher Michael Nice shared word of the impending closure in a Facebook post to the Retail Dead or Alive group on Saturday.

He noted that Claire’s inside a Walmart in Westminster, Colorado – around 12 miles from Denver – is closing down.

Nice paired the post with an image of the closing store with a metal gate in front of it.

“Going, Going, Gone!” read a sign at the Claire’s entrance. “Shop unbeatable prices before this store closes.”

One Claire’s fan shared their dismay at the closure, noting the jeweler was a childhood staple for them.

“My childhood memories are going downhill…again,” she wrote.

    Claire's

Claire’s, established in 1961, initially began as a small jewelry store in Chicago.

It has since evolved into an international retailer with over 2,000 stores across various countries.

The company is well-known for its ear-piercing services and catering primarily to children, teenagers, and young adults.

Claire’s products include jewelry, hair accessories, and beauty items.

Other shoppers noted that other Claire’s locations inside Walmarts were closing, including one in Milford, Ohio – 15 miles from Cincinnati – and another in Dinuba, California – 30 miles from Fresno.

    JEWELRY GIANT

Founded in 1961, Claire’s sells accessories, jewelry, and toys to its primarily tween and teenage girls market.

There are around 1,500 Claire’s locations in the US and over 300 shop-in-shops within Walmart stores.

Claire’s partnered with the retail giant in 2018 to help Walmart become a fashion destination and to encourage new customers to shop at the jewelry chain.

The partnership has expanded, with Claire’s products now available in over 2,500 Walmart locations and on the retailer’s website.

The shop-in-shops typically offer the same services as standalone Claire’s stores, including ear-piercing.

Claire’s has locations in 17 countries throughout North America and Europe and has opened shop-in-shop locations internationally in places such as the French department store Galeries Lafayette.

Claire’s has product displays in major US retailers besides Walmart, including DSW, Toys “R” US, and Kohl’s.

The jewelry chain also partnered with Walgreens back in March to bring its products to 4,400 Walgreens locations.

The stores now have dedicated displays of Claire’s products in the seasonal section.

“Walgreens is an industry leader that services millions of people every day with a broad assortment of products, making it a one-stop destination and a natural fit for us to provide convenience and incredible value through our fashion products,” said Ryan Vero, CEO of Claire’s.

Other beloved retailers are closing their shops as well.

A Home Depot rival has filed for bankruptcy, and dozens of locations are expected to close .

Plus, dozens of Subway locations were closed without warning .
