Multiple publications are reporting the four-door sedan may be in the pipeline, according to Motor Trend .

Journalists went to a private dealership event with the manufacturer, leading multiple publications to report seeing renderings of the potential new Ford sedan.

There are no official renderings of the vehicle, but dozens of threads on X have predicted what the sedan may look like.

The fan-based renderings generated a mixed response from Mustang enthusiasts.

“At least don’t call it a Mustang; use a different name,” one purist said.

“This is actually a good-looking vehicle,” another non-purist said.

Journalists at the dealership event officials called the project Mach-4.

Ford’s current model lineup includes an electric variant of their Mustang line called the Mach-E .

The Mach-E is a crossover SUV that also has four doors.

However, Mustang traditionalists, still angry over using the sports brand for the crossover EV , said they hope any four-door variants will use the badge of an iconic 1960s Ford.

“They should use the Falcon name and bring it to the rest of the world, in my opinion,” one driver on X suggested.

“Give it a Mustang-looking body and grill, sure, but leave the [Mustang] name for the two doors.”

Ford executives only added fuel to the Mustang rumor flame in a statement to The U.S. Sun.

After asking the company if they’re bringing a four-door Mustang to their product lineup, Ford said drivers should expect a model-line shake-up.

“We have very exciting plans to expand our portfolio with new vehicles at all price points,” the representative said.

“We’ll share more in the future.”

Ford has released a drip of information about the Mustang's future. Here is what we know:

Ford is likely to keep the gas-powered Mustang for as long as possible, representatives confirmed to The U.S. Sun.

The company has long stated its intent to shift to electric vehicles in the future, but the brand doesn’t have public plans to electrify its most iconic car.

Meanwhile, spokespeople are more coy about the potential for an expanded Mustang model lineup.

“We have very exciting plans to expand our portfolio with new vehicles at all price points,” a representative told The U.S. Sun about a potential four-door Mustang.

Ford offers the Mustang Mach-E crossover EV.

It is one of the best-selling electric cars in the American market.

The Mustang has gone through a whirlwind of changes recently.

In 2022, the company slightly redesigned the car, adding more aggressive headlamps and a new spoiler .

Ford has confirmed to The U.S. Sun that it plans to keep the gas-powered Mustang for as long as possible.

    FORD FUTURE

The company is coming off a quarter of healthy sales numbers , mixed with investor questions about its future.

Ford reported spending more money on product recalls than expected.

“We’re making real progress in raising quality, lowering costs, and reducing complexity across our entire enterprise,” Ford’s CFO, John Lawler, said on the investor call.

“We’re making real progress on quality that will benefit us down the road.”

CEO Jim Farley also suggested the brand is looking to enter the small electric car market to lower the initial costs of battery-powered vehicles.
