New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers ‘struggling’ in NFL preseason practice as details are leaked over training camp

THE New York Jets have reportedly had a rough practice session, coming alarmingly close to the start of the 2024 NFL season.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers , 40, and his offense are said to have struggled moving the ball on Monday.

After a largely encouraging summer, the unit had what appeared to be its worst day of training camp this year, per the New York Post .

The Jets offense never reached the end zone during team drills.

Rodgers finished 11-for-27 with his throws not having a clear target at times.

Toward the end of the session, safety Tony Adams intercepted one of his passes.

The offensive line had difficulty neutralizing the blitz while starting right tackle Morgan Moses committed a false start.

Head coach Robert Saleh came to his offense’s support, saying they competed against the NFL ‘s top-five defense.

But he finally acknowledged Rodgers at Co. weren’t at their best.

“Took the guys a little bit to get going,” Saleh said.

“But I still thought it was a good, competitive practice.

“Guys were communicating, they were executing the way we need them to, but their legs were a little heavy, you can say that.”

Saleh added said the Jets offense was “trying some new things” while practicing an end-of-game situation.

During that stretch, Rodgers missed his target five times in a row.

Saleh didn’t want to commit to playing his starters in Saturday’s preseason matchup with the New York Giants .

The Jets are 2-0 this preseason, having claimed victories over the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders .

New York will start the 2024 campaign with a Monday Night Football clash against the San Francisco 49ers .

Rodgers has not yet seen game action since tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of the 2023 season.

However, he has been practicing at training camp without restrictions.

The four-time NFL MVP returned from Injured Reserve in December but missed the remainder of the season while starting light training.

“Back then I couldn’t, couldn’t run, I couldn’t run fast,” Rodgers said during the offseason.

“I could move a little bit, but now I can feel like I can do anything. I can run at a top speed.
