YOU might be in store for an easy gig that can earn you some good money this summer.

Someone on TikTok shared that a lesser-known side hustle can potentially earn you up to $700 per day.

    Mark ( @financeunfolded ) highlighted a scooter-charging side job on TikTok.

If you’ve ever walked around your city, you’ve likely seen Bird and Lime scooters scattered across sidewalks, ready for use at a moment’s notice.

These electric scooters have become a popular mode of transportation.

Mark pointed out in his video how you might never have wondered how the scooters get charged daily for use.

    HOW IT WORKS

Lime and Bird, two of the leading scooter-sharing companies, rely on independent contractors to collect, charge, and redistribute their scooters daily.

These contractors are paid to pick up the scooters, charge them at home, and then return them to designated locations in the city.

The pay structure is straightforward: You can get paid up to $7 per scooter.

Since you can charge up to 100 scooters per day, this can translate to a substantial income — over $700 daily if you maximize your capacity.

The process involves using the Lime app or website to locate scooters that need charging, collecting them, charging them overnight, and then releasing them back into the city early the next day.

    GET STARTED

If you’re interested in becoming a Lime Juicer, the process is relatively simple.

You can sign up on the website at lime.bike/juicer , where you’ll need to provide some basic information and agree to the terms of service.

Once approved, you’ll receive a set of chargers and can start collecting scooters in your area.

While the earning potential is impressive, there are a few factors to consider before diving in.

First, charging 100 scooters daily requires space and access to sufficient power outlets.

    Side hustles and tax implications

The extra income made from side hustles may need to be reported to the IRS.

If you receive more than $600 in gross payouts from a selling platform like eBay, the site will issue you a Form 1099-K to use in your tax return.

Individuals should calculate their adjusted gross income, taxable earnings, and deductions for the year.

Once they have that, they can use the 1040-ES form to calculate estimated taxes.

You’ll also need a vehicle capable of transporting multiple scooters at once, which could involve additional costs for gas or a larger car.

Additionally, the work is time-sensitive, requiring early morning drop-offs, so it may not be suitable for those with rigid schedules.

If this isn’t the side hustle for you, there are many others at which you can try your hand.

You can see about washing pets this summer for $2,100 per week.

Plus, a teen started a baking side hustle with which they make $700 a week.
