DEFYING the visible signs of aging has been a simple task for one woman whose family taught her beauty secrets from a young age.

Mimi Nguyen said she began to pay closer attention to her skin in her 20s and developed habits for a glowing complexion.

Nguyen, who lives in Las Vegas , Nevada, is co-founder of the coffee company Cafely .

She learned many natural remedies and traditional beauty secrets while growing up in a Vietnamese household.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared tips for maintaining a youthful appearance.

    BRIGHT IDEA

Nguyen, who is in her thirties, had a basic skincare routine in her early years.

One of the “best things” she did for her appearance was commit to a specific product in her 20s.

“Since my mom always stressed the importance of keeping my skin clean, I just stuck to a gentle cleanser and a mild moisturizer in my teens,” she said.

“But in my 20s, I started to pay closer attention to sun protection.

“Besides my Asian genes, consistent sun protection, keeping a balanced diet, and sufficient hydration are the keys to maintaining a youthful appearance.”

Nguyen said stress management also makes a huge difference in skin health therefore it’s important to maintain a positive mindset.

“I remember my gran would always tell me that happiness shows on your face, so I try to live by that,” she said.

    FOOD FOR THOUGHT

A diet of sugar and processed foods made Nguyen experience breakouts and dullness during her 20s.

However, she noticed that her skin would have a “vibrant” glow and was clearer whenever she committed to eating fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats.

She has since embraced eating a balanced diet full of nutrient-rich foods.

“I keep my consumption of sugary and processed foods to a minimum,” she said.

“I’ve also cut back on dairy as I noticed it can trigger flare-ups.

The best anti-aging secret is learning to feel good about yourself at whatever age.

“Instead, I focus on whole foods that nourish my skin from the inside out.

“I’m a big fan of omega-3s, so I eat a lot of fatty fish like salmon and take a fish oil supplement.

“I also eat lots of foods that are rich in antioxidants, like berries, green tea, and dark chocolate.”

    FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH

Nguyen said adequate sleep and hydration are “incredibly important” for energizing the body to fight off elements bad for the skin.

“Despite my hectic schedule, I try to squeeze in a minimum of seven hours of sleep every night,” she said.

“I also drink lots of water and by lots, I mean up to half a gallon a day.”

She argued the common belief that eight glasses of water should be drank daily isn’t sufficient.

“Of course, there are times when I can’t sleep for at least 7 hours and can’t drink as much as a half gallon,” she said.

“When that happens, I would notice that my skin would look dull and dry.”

Taking care of your skin and health is vital, but Nguyen said her biggest tip is focusing on beauty from the inside out.

“Aging is a natural process, and you should welcome each stage of life with confidence and grace,” she said.

“The best anti-aging secret is learning to feel good about yourself at whatever age.”
