I never drank Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte until today – I still think it’s too early but here’s my verdict

PUMPKIN spice lattes have a cult following that can be intimidating to break into.
But after years of missing out on the classic fall flavor , I decided it was time to give one a try.
I’m usually a Dunkin’ drinker, but their fall menu is still on its way. Since today marks the earliest fall menu launch in Starbucks’ history, I headed down to my local cafe and ordered an iced PSL.
The latte has a complex flavor that hits in waves.
The experience begins with the smell, nutty and autumnal.
Sipping starts with a smooth milkiness, just like any latte. But then, to match the aroma, spice hits you after a half-second. It’s not too sweet, not too nutty, just gently balanced. Not my favotie, but it’s a comforting flavor.
There is something special about this drink.
The most impressive part of the pumpkin spice latte is what happens after you stop sipping. The pumpkin spice flavor seems to coat your mouth, clinging to your tongue and making the fall flavor last between gulps.
SPICE PRICE
Starbucks is offering several fall menu items.
The iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte is joined by a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and a new Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai.
The company also launched a new Iced Apple Crisp non-dairy Chai to go along with its Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato.
Starbucks app users can find two exclusive drinks – the Iced Caramel Apple Cream Latte and the Iced Honey Apple Almondmilk Flat White.
Raccoon Cake Pop, around – $4.25
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin – $4.45
Baked Apple Croissant – $4.65
Pumpkin & Pepita Loaf – not yet available in all locations
Prices can vary widely by size and location.
Because the taste stays with you, the drink succeeds in creating a vibe — my morning now has an autumn atmosphere.
But as I look at the weather forecast, I feel it’s too early for a fall vibe. It’s been a cool few days here in New York, but it’s going to be 85 degrees this weekend, and I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet.
If pumpkin spice is for you and you’re tired of summer, go for this drink. But it may be another month before I’m in the mood to order one again.
CUSTOMERS REACT
Many pumpkin spice fans don’t seem to mind the early launch. Social media is saturated with rave reviews.
“Going to Starbucks this afternoon for a pumpkin spice latte and it’s 94° outside,” one X user posted.
Another joined me in calling for a holdoff on spiced drinks.
“Summer isn’t over until September 22nd, so just sit your Pumpkin Spice *sses down for a while,” they tweeted.
Another X user replied:
“Wishing all the pumpkin spice haters a very blessed timeline full of pumpkin spice ads.”
For many, the flavor is a reminder of cozier times.
“Pumpkin spice lattes will forever be my comfort,” one tweet said.
PUMP-KIN-ED UP
Some think pumpkin spice could be dethroned as the regning fall flavor.
Other flavors , like apple cider, cinnamon, and maple could be slated to take its place.
While the Pumpkin Spice Latte returned for its 21st year, Starbucks is offering other favored flavors, like Apple Crisp drinks.
Dunkin has been launching its fall menu later than in the past.
