NEW Orleans Saints star Taysom Hill could have a future beyond offense.

Having played quarterback, tight end, wideout, returner, and fullback, 30-year-old Hill is a Swiss Army Knife for the Saints .

But head coach Dennis Allen recently revealed to Kay Adams on her FanDuel TV show Up And Adams that, in the past, they’ve been tempted to test Hill’s skills on more than just the offense.

“Early on we kind of thought about making him a SAM linebacker,” Allen revealed .

Adams couldn’t contain her laughter, even telling Allen to “shut up” in the process.

Unfortunately for Allen and the rest of the defensive staff, they were unable to convince the then-head coach Sean Payton to give the suggestion a try.

Now with Allen in charge, Adams asked why they hadn’t put this proposal back on the table.

“Now we’ve got him doing so many things now, full back, runner, there’s only so any ball plays a guy can play,” Allen explained.

He then went on to add that if he were to play Hill on defense, he’d “rush him about 50 percent of the time” from SAM.

“He would kill people I feel like,” Adams said, before suggesting the Saints at least give Hill a shot at the position in just one game.

“Well alright, let’s see him do what he’s going to do at fullback, at tailback, at receiver, tight end, personal protector, kick returner…he’s got enough jobs,” he said.

As for Hill’s addition of fullback to his resume this season under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Allen said he was “really excited” by the potential.

But it wasn’t just Adams who believed Hill could be deadly on defense.

“He’s fast enough to play safety…If he played safety he’d probably kill somebody,” Saints quarterback Derek Carr told Adams.

“He’s the best all-around I’ve ever played with.”

Evidence of Hill’s versatility was on display in their most recent preseason game when the Saints lost 16-10 to the San Francisco 49ers .
