‘They let you wear those?’ Teacher slammed for ‘unprofessional’ outfits including tight leggings & sexy leather trousers

WHEN you think of a typical teacher you might picture them wearing a slightly drab and boring outfit.

But that couldn't be further from the truth for this teacher who wears comfy and casual clothes in her classroom - and even leggings are A-OK.

Katy Johnson, who goes by @ms.johnson.teaches on social media, recently took to TikTok to show off her outfits for a typical week as a teacher.

But instead of frumpy dresses Katy donned comfy leggings, ripped jeans and even a pair of stylish leather trousers, much to the shock of fellow TikTok users and other teachers.

On Monday, the teacher showed off her look for the day - a tight fitting long-sleeve T-shirt, flared black leggings, Ugg boots and a matching cropped gilet.

Tuesday was a similarly casual look, but this time Katy opted for ripped dark blue jeans and a blue high-neck jumper, which she paired with some black trainers.

She also wore a jumper on Wednesday, but this time styled them with some trendy black leather trousers and black Converse.

The ripped jeans returned on Thursday, this time with white Converse and a black jumper.

And finally, the educator ended the week with a school colours day, so she decided to wear blacked ripped jeans, a white long-sleeve top with a black and yellow sports top over it.

Unsurprisingly, people were amazed by Katy's laid back school style, and even more shocked she was actually allowed to wear most of it.

One commented on the clip: "You can wear leggings AND jeans with holes??? Lucky!"

"Fellow teacher here, Monday's outfit is so cute but they let you wear that?!

"I've been told my JEANS are too tight before," another wrote.

But Katy replied to the comment and explained that her school is "really awesome and flexible."

"I wish I could dress this casual," another teacher chimed in.

Meanwhile, others praised Katy's cool and comfy style with one commented that she "must be the teacher everyone has a crush on."

"When I say I want to be a stylish teacher this is exactly what I mean," someone else wrote.

And another agreed: "I just know your students love all your outfits."

"So good to find another high school teacher who dresses like me," someone else commented on the viral clip.

Not everyone was a fan of her looks though, and one user even slammed her style as being "inappropriate" for school.

"Sorry but it's just unprofessional," another bluntly commented.

Do teachers follow a dress code?

The NEU does not recommend formal dress code for staff in schools.

The NEU believes that staff should be able to dress according to their professional judgement unless this is detrimental to their capacity to do their job or is deemed unsafe or inappropriate for some other objective and reasonable reason.

Schools should take into account the principles set out below:

• Staff have a right to expect respect for their religious beliefs, cultural practices and gender-identity.
• Forms of dress should not interfere with the teaching, learning and assessment process.
• Health and safety of pupils and staff should be assessed.
• Consultation with staff is an essential principle.
• Each case should be considered on its merits in the light of the principles identified in this guidance.
