Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter dead at 64 after a ‘difficult health battle’ only two years after country icon’s own death

THE GRANDDAUGHTER of country music legend Loretta Lynn has died at 64 after a long health battle.

Lynn Massey was the daughter of Betty Sue, Loretta’s firstborn, who sadly died in 2013.

The Instagram page of Loretta Lynn broke the news about Lynn Massey’s untimely death on Instagram on Friday.

“Betty Sue’s daughter Lynn Massey, Loretta’s first grandchild, passed away this week after a long and difficult health battle,” the post read.

“Our family is so grateful for the prayers and love continually shown to us.”

Lynn’s death comes after her country legend grandmother, Loretta Lynn , died two years prior in 2022.

After announcing her death, many sent over their condolences, saying she’s with her grandmother and mother now.

“Prayers to your Family, now she’s with Grandma,” said one fan.

“Loretta and Betty are holding her right now!” exclaimed another.

At this time, no further information has been disclosed on Lynn’s exact health battles.

Loretta’s family have been troubled with health issues over the years.

Lynn’s mother, Betty Sue , died from complications of emphysema.

Lynn’s uncle, Jack, died in 1984 after drowning in Tennessee’s Duck River.

Most recently, Loretta’s son, Ernest ‘Ernie’ Ray, overcame surgery for kidney failure earlier this year.

On August 10, Ernie’s wife, Crystal Lynn, posted a video updating fans that he is in better health.

While he was driving, Ernie simply said, “I’m good,” smiling and joking with his wife.

LORETTA’S LEGACY

Despite the unfortunate deaths and health troubles that have blanketed the Lynn family, Loretta’s legacy continues to pour out into her family members.

Loretta Lynn was born on April 14, 1932, and welcomed six kids throughout her life. The late country singer passed away on October 4, 2022.

Loretta’s children Patsy and Peggy Lynn formed a county band called The Lynns in the 90s.

Patsy’s daughter, Emmy Russell , also chose to pursue a career in music.

During season 22 of American Idol , Emmy wowed the audience with her singing skills and revealed that she had family ties to the late country star.

While on the show, Emmy sang her grandmother’s song, Coal Mine’s Daughter .

Emmy’s success landed the singer on the show’s Top 5 before she was sent home during the May 12 episode.

Emmy released her single Redemption on May 18, shortly after she was eliminated.
