TEENS can make over $3,000 a year by doing lawn work for just an hour a week.

Learning the value of a dollar and working hard at a young age can set someone up for long-term success.

Tons of kids start small with summer jobs or side hustles before fully joining the workforce.

Logan Ski, a self-proclaimed finance expert, shared some lucrative side hustles teens can try to start building their wealth.

In a YouTube video, he said landscaping is the most popular side hustle for young people.

"It's the perfect side hustle because you get paid immediately after finishing the job, you can do multiple jobs per day, and it's easy to get repeat clients," he said.

Some teens may be able to get started for free if they borrow a mower, weed wacker, or rake from their neighbors or parents.

    GETTING YOUR GRASS

Ski suggested charging between $40 and $70 per lawn, about 50% less than most professional landscaping companies charge.

Mowing one client's lawn once a week every week would earn someone $3,640 if they're charging $70.

He said it takes about an hour per lawn, so doing multiple jobs in one day is easy.

In the comments, a viewer said they'd been doing landscaping for a year and a half and made nearly $6,000 at 14 years old, including buying expensive equipment to do the job.

"We charge around $25 per lawn (although it can differ depending on lawn size and length of grass). Extremely cheaper than the companies, but we have over 20 repeat customers, so we're not lacking in money," they wrote.

    TRASHY BEHAVIOR

TikToker Mark (@financeunfolded) shared another side hustle that teens can do without leaving their neighborhood.

He explained that he and his friends would offer to clean out their neighbor's trashcans.

"I always saved this side hustle to do with my friends during summer and we would make bank," he said.

You need only a hose, but Mark said you might be able to charge more if you also use a cleaning solution.

    Side hustles and tax implications

The extra income made from side hustles may need to be reported to the IRS.

If you receive more than $600 in gross payouts from a selling platform like eBay, the site will issue you a Form 1099-K to use in your tax return.

Individuals should calculate their adjusted gross income, taxable earnings, and deductions for the year.

Once they have that, they can use the 1040-ES form to calculate estimated taxes.

He suggested charging $15 to clean out the cans. Since it takes about 20 minutes per can, he also proposed doing 20 cans daily to earn $2,100 per week.

At that rate, teens would make $8,400 each month.

In the comments, some were quick to point out that they wouldn't pay $15 for the service.

"I'll give them kids $5, maybe!" wrote one viewer.

Another viewer said they regularly provide this service and recommend charging less.

"The amount of people who will say yes to the $5 will heavily outweigh those who say yes to $15. [The] $5 will make you more money in the long run," they wrote.

Kids have also found luck making up to $150 daily with an easy cleaning side hustle.
