AN attorney who represented the mom accused of killing her 9-year-old son in a drug-fueled car crash has insisted there are “twists and turns” to come in the troubling case.

Kerri Bedrick , 32, was arrested after she drove the wrong way on a highway, causing a four-car fatal car accident, killing her young son, Eli.

Bedrick was found to be under the influence of drugs while she was driving on Long Island, New York , Thursday night, ABC affiliate WABC reported.

Police said Bedrick drove on the wrong side of the highway for five miles before causing the massive car pile-up.

When law enforcement searched her car, they discovered pills.

During her appearance in court on Friday, the woman admitted to taking methamphetamines at 8 pm the night before the crash and was under the influence of alcohol.

Bedrick pleaded not guilty to felony aggravated DWI and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.

Eleanor Gery, who previously represented Bedrick on a past case, argued that there’s more to Bedrick’s case.

“There are many twists and turns that will come [in this case],” Gery told The New York Post on Saturday.

Gery said the mother is “the type of person who gets taken advantage by others…she’s gotten the short end of the stick in many of her dealings in life.”

Bedrick’s current attorney argued that she is a “victim.”

“My client was a victim. She was on medication that was prescribed for her,” the lawyer said, per WABC.

“She is in denial, has not absorbed what happened to her and her son’s death.”

Dean Henrys, the father of Eli, allegedly tried to get custody of his son with his new wife Zareen.

Zareen claimed that Henrys tried to warn others of Bedrick’s troubling behavior; however, she had no proof of reporting the warnings.

“He was literally telling them, ‘She uses drugs, she drinks, I want my son safe,’” she said.

“… He was just afraid of this happening, her harming herself or [Eli]… No one listened to us.”

The couple hasn’t seen Eli in four years, per The New York Post.

At the time of the crash, the Centerport woman was driving without a license and had previously been arrested for two DWIs.

Prosecutors revealed that her license was suspended 56 times in the past.

    CATASTROPHIC CRASH

New York State Police Major Stephen Udice held a press conference regarding the horrific car crash.

“To give you an idea of the severity of the impact, the engine of the wrong-way-driving vehicle was thrown from that vehicle into the woods some distance from the collision point itself,” he said.

Udice went on to describe the incident. He said a Suffolk County sheriff noticed Bedrick driving the wrong way and turned his lights on to pull her over.

Rather than pulling over, she sped up and refused to stop.

According to Deputy Undersheriff John Becker, the sheriff came across the car pile-up and removed the nine-year-old from the backseat of the car and attempted to save his life.

Tragically, the boy died on his way to the hospital.

“This was a traumatic event for all those involved,” Udice concluded.

Bedrick is currently being held on $1 million bail after her court hearing on Friday.

Bedrick is due to return to court on August 29, and her charges are expected to be upgraded.
