Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 19.

The chain’s CEO Jonathan Tibus previously said the company hoped to restructure the business during this time.

Red Lobster recently announced that it would reject leases at certain locations the chain has deemed unprofitable, according to the Orlando Business Journal .

23 of the chain’s restaurants will close by August 31.

This will give certain fans less than a week to enjoy these locations.

Locations in 14 states will be affected by these plans.

The worst impacted states will be Virginia , Florida , and Illinois , as they will each stand to lose three restaurants.

Red Lobster has already closed over 100 locations across the country since its bankruptcy filing.

The chain had closed at least seven other stores in July , The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

Restaurants in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas, and two in Florida closed just last month.

The chain had blamed the economy and its infamous all-you-can-eat shrimp deal for its financial situation.

Red Lobster had announced in a financial report from the third fiscal quarter of last year, that it lost $11 million in that quarter purely due to that one deal.

The promotion had been designed to bring more customers to its restaurants.

CEO Tibus has previously said the chain planned to sharpen its operations across the company.

    MORE CLOSURES

Red Lobster has not been the only chain to struggle financially and file for bankruptcy.

The furniture company Conn’s HomePlus had initially closed a handful of locations when it filed for bankruptcy.

This chain has since announced that it will shut all of its 170 locations.

The bankruptcy has also affected another retailer owned by Conn’s.

Badcock Furniture & More will close all of its locations.

They need to do something with the one in Savanna Ga as well. I went there Saturday and left. The restaurant itself looked very unkept and not clean. It was not always like that. U can tell something is not ok.
