ZACH Wilson impressed as the Denver Broncos made their final preparations for the 2024 NFL season, with fans hitting out at his former team, the New York Jets.

Wilson endured a difficult three-year spell with the Jets after being selected with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Now the 25-year-old is looking for a new lease of life in Denver.

He is expected to play backup to rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who has already been confirmed as starter for Sean Payton's team in the new season.

Wilson was composed throughout Sunday's preseason meeting with the Arizona Cardinals.

He led four scoring drives as the Broncos claimed a morale-boosting 38-12 victory.

As you can imagine, fans were quick to have their say on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

And plenty of them had strong words about Wilson's former team.

"I will never forgive the New York Jets for what they did to Zach Wilson," one fan wrote.

"A lot of this is on the Jets, look at Wilson go now," another fan said.

"I guess maybe Sean Payton knows more about football than brain dead idiots on Jets twitter and the Jets media," a third fan posted.

"Let's be honest, Wilson can still be a top player, he's better off without the Jets," a fourth fan said.

Wilson himself made it clear how much he's enjoying his new surroundings after the game.

"I can't think of any games in my career when it feels like we're getting into a rhythm," Wilson said.

"Even if you go three and out and get stopped here and there, you feel like you're going to put something together.

"It feels good to feel that as an offense. One bad play happens and you expect something good to happen on the next one.''

Wilson made 12 appearances for the Jets in the 2023 season, 11 of them as starter.
