LEBRON James has revealed what his son Bronny James can refer to him as when the duo share the court this upcoming NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers.
A clip was released from a new episode of LeBron’s sports talk show The Shop: Uninterrupted where he addressed playing with his son.
“What’s your working relationship? Is he going to call you dad at practice, in the locker room?” LeBron was asked .
“No, he can’t. We already laid that down,” LeBron responded.
“Cannot call me dad, in the workplace.
“Once we leave out the private facility and the gates close, I could be dad again [and] in the car if we ride together, at home I could be dad.”
Although Bronny will not be allowed to call LeBron dad while they play together on the Lakers , the four-time NBA champion provided some alternatives.
“He got to call me like 2-3 or Bron or, you know, GOAT if he want to. It’s up to him,” LeBron said.
“We cannot be running down the court, and he’d be like, ‘Dad, push the ball up! Dad, I’m open! Dad, come on!'”
LeBron joked it won’t be hard for him because he has always called his son Bronny.
“It’s easy for me because I’ve been calling him Bronny for so long,” LeBron said.
“It’s not like I’ve been calling him, ‘Hey son.’
“So it’s easy for me, it’s going to be an adjustment for him.”
James will play in his seventh season with the Lakers after signing a two-year, $104 million contract with the franchise in the offseason.
The contract includes a player option for 2025-26 with a no-trade clause.
Meanwhile, Bronny was selected at No. 55 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Lakers.
Time for LeBron to retire?
“Not because I don’t want to see more of LeBron James, not because I don’t appreciate LeBron James.
“But I honestly believe deep down inside, the more LeBron James continues to play the game of basketball, the more it’s going to hurt his legacy and the more it’s going to continue to hurt his GOAT argument.
“As long as he steps foot on that floor, every single season, there’s gonna expectations of him winning a championship.
“And when he don’t do that, we’re gonna be looking at him saying: ‘Well what happened now?'”
