Greenridge, previously Greenridge Farm, is a family-owned meat and cheese processor based in Illinois .

The state’s attorney general filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging it did not compensate its employees with their earned overtime wages , per Top Class Actions .

The lawsuit comes after the Illinois attorney general and US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division conducted a joint investigation into the matter.

They found that Greenridge breached the Fair Labor Standards Act with its illegal payment practices.

The company has not admitted wrongdoing but agreed to pay $3 million to resolve the overtime settlement .

    PAYMENT INFORMATION

Class members include those who worked at the Greenridge facility at 2355 Greenleaf Avenue in Elk Grove Village, Illinois – around 20 miles from Chicago – between May 24, 2019, and May 24, 2022.

Eligible Greenridge employees may receive four payments between July 17, 2024, and November 19, 2025.

Compensation amounts will vary based on the amount each worker is owed in wages.

Greenridge workers should have received a mailed settlement notice that contains their estimated payment amount.

To receive compensation, class members should have submitted a claim form by June 17, 2024.

Those who completed their claim form by that date should have received their first payment shortly after July 17, 2024.

Workers who missed the original deadline have until the late claim filing deadline of October 20, 2025, to submit a claim form.

Those who file a late claim may not receive all four payments.

Class members who mail in their claim form will receive checks in the mail at the address they provided in their form.

Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or 'classes,' a way to band together in court.

These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.

When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.

Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.

These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.

Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.

Other payment options include Zelle, Venmo , direct deposit , PayPal , or a MasterCard Prepaid Card.

A Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number is required to receive payment.

Immigration status does not impact whether individuals can receive payment from this settlement.

One-time payments worth $11,500 from an $8.8 million data breach settlement are up for grabs.

Plus, Walmart shoppers are in line to receive checks from a $3.88 million overcharged settlement .
