THE Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 14 players to the practice squad, potentially leaving space for three more additions.

Shawn Bowman, Christian Braswell, Joshua Cephus, D.J. Coleman, Elijah Cooks, Josiah Deguara, Terrell Edmunds, Tre Flowers, Joe Gaziano, Jalen Jackson, Steven Jones, Tanner Muse, E.J. Perry, and Austin Trammell were snapped up this week.

NFL teams are allowed 16 players in the practice squad, but can add another via the International Player Pathway.

The Jaguars are being linked with former Wales rugby winger Louis Rees-Zammit , who was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs .

Some expected Rees-Zammit , 23, to join the Chiefs’ practice squad, but Nigerian offensive tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick took the IPP spot.

Jacksonville showed interest in Rees-Zammit during the IPP pro day in March.

And given the franchise’s strong presence in the UK, signing him would make a lot of sense from a marketing perspective.

Rees-Zammit made his debut against Jacksonville earlier this month in the Chiefs’ opening preseason game.

The Jaguars are playing twice in London this season.

Earlier this offseason, quarterback Trevor Lawrence signed a five-year, $275m contract extension.

The deal is the biggest Jaguars history, but Lawrence has vowed that the money will not affect his mentality.

“I don’t change at all, it’s just a number,” Lawrence told the Inside The Huddle podcast.

“Obviously, it’s very exciting and I’m very grateful to be in this position to take care of my family and hopefully do a lot of good with it in the future.

“That’s awesome and it feels really good to have the stability of that five-year extension, but it’s not going to change who I am, I’m the same guy.

“I’ve got to be the same guy – I’ve got to lead the same way. I’ve never liked when guys get a big contract and change their personality.

“I’ve not seen it often, but you see and hear about guys doing that in the past. That’s never going to be me and it’s not going to change who I am.”

The Jaguars missed out on the playoffs after a heartbreaking defeat to the Tennessee Titans in Week 18 last season.

And Lawrence believes the franchise has enough talent to go a step further.

“I think we’ve shown the team we can be and we’re a more talented team,” Lawrence said.

“When things are clicking, when we’re healthy, we’re a really good team who can beat anybody, but we have to maintain that throughout the whole year and get better.

“Last year was kind of the opposite [to 2022]. We started pretty good and finished poorly, and you never want that.

“We’ve got to find the balance and figure out how to be consistent through a season but get better every week.”
