The throwback GameStops will sell older consoles, games , and merchandise for a nostalgic appeal to customers.

“THE CLASSICS ARE BACK,” GameStop wrote in a post to X earlier this week.

“New Retro GameStops are now spawning near you.”

Included in the post was also a link to a locator tool , where customers can enter their address and find their nearest “retro” store.

They need only enter their zip code and select a radius of either 15, 30, 50, or 100 miles.

GameStop has yet to confirm an exact number of locations that have since been converted or are being converted to the “retro” design.

The stores that do get the “retro” makeover will sell nostalgic consoles and games that have since had newer versions released or that were axed altogether.

Gamers can get the original Xbox console, Playstation 2, the Nintendo GameCube , Game Boy, SEGA Genesis , and more.

GameStop’s announcement has garnered a mixed response from fans.

    EFFORT REJECTED

Some are unhappy with the change, claiming the brand is doing whatever it can to hang on to its customer base.

“This is stupid and pointless, anything to try and keep their sh***y company alive for a few more years,” a gamer fumed on X.

“A lot of these prices are insane…” another wrote .

“Trash company, support your local store,” said a third.

Others were thrilled by the company’s move and the return of some of their all-time favorites.

    FEELING THE LOVE

“Huge win for GameStop!!” a fan commented .

“Yoooo this is awesome,” another echoed.

A third said they’d “never recover” from their excitement.

It’s unclear if the retro stores will be re-designed or simply re-stocked with the older merchandise, how many will be changed, or if this is a limited-time or permanent offering.

The U.S. Sun has contacted GameStop for more information.

Employees have also revealed unique aspects of GameStop stores over the years.

A staff member revealed a “secret floor” full of glass cases at their store.

Another GameStop employee claimed shoppers always get angry over certain questions while checking out.
