Mets announcer Keith Hernandez’s shocked reaction after Gary Cohen brings up ‘odd’ Shohei Ohtani incident live on air

THE New York Mets broadcast team was left speechless by one of Shohei Ohtani’s most recent escapade.

Ohtani does astonishing things when in the batter’s box, but he most recently baffled fans with a pregame ritual.

The Dodgers hosted an Ohtani bobblehead night, and the figurine featured Ohtani with his dog Decoy.

To commemorate the special night, the Dodgers had Ohtani’s pup throw out the first pitch of the game.

Dogs may understand human language , but that doesn’t mean they can throw a pitch, so instead Ohtani had Decoy do a first fetch to start the game.

Ohtani brought Decoy out to the mound and left the ball with him, then jogged to home plate to set up.

Then, Decoy picked up the baseball and ran it back to Ohtani, who rewarded him with a treat.

The Mets broadcast booth, consisting of Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez, chatted about the first pitch, which Hernandez couldn’t seem to comprehend.

“His dog threw out the first pitch on Shohei Ohtani bobblehead night,” Cohen said.

“He gave the dog the ball, the dog ran out to the mound, ran the ball in to Ohtani and then he gave him a high five.

“I mean how cute is that?”

The entire time Cohen was describing the situation, Hernandez had a perplexed look on his face.

“Hooray for Hollywood,” Hernandez said.

While Hernandez was confused about the fuss of the first pitch, MLB fans loved seeing Ohtani’s dog on the field.

“Decoy is undefeated 1-0 for the season,” one fan said.

“Just too cute! Obviously Decoy loves the game,” another fan said.
