COMPETITIVE eating legend Joey Chestnut has once again claimed the hot dog-eating victory over longtime rival Takeru Kobayashi.

The 16-time Nathan’s Hot Dog champion Joey Chestnut broke his own record, downing 83 hot dogs in his win against Kobayashi in the Netflix Unfinished Beef event on Labor Day in Las Vegas – 15 years after the two last competed with each other.

The Labor Day clash at the Hyper X Arena in Vegas featured weiners only, as Chestnut and Kobayashi had just 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs and buns as possible.

Kobayashi and the favored Chestnut entered as bitter rivals due to their history – and the latter competitor delivered.

Chestnut erased 83 hot dogs and buns to the dismay of Kobayashi, who finished with a personal record of 66 hot dogs.

The New Jersey native won $100,000 for his victory.

Chestnut ate 14 hot dogs in the first minute which beat his previous 60-second record of 13.

He would cruise to the victory and go on to beat his previous world record of 76 hot dogs consumed.

Kobayashi had announced his retirement earlier this year but said he would return to face Chestnut.

The two rivals have a history at Coney Island’s hot dog eating contest.

Chestnut arrived to compete at the event in 2005 and would beat the competition’s pioneer in Kobayashi just two years later, mowing down 66 hot dogs.

Kobayashi then lost to Chestnut in 2008 and 2009 and couldn’t participate in the New York City event the following year because of a contractual dispute – a conflict that remains to this day.

Chestnut has won the legendary competition 16 times until a purported contractual dispute disallowed him from participating this year.

In June, the two agreed to the Netflix epic hot dog showdown event – their first faceoff in 15 years.

“We’re going to push each other,” Chestnut, 40, said last month on NBC’s Today alongside the 46-year-old Kobayashi.

“I think we’re going to make world records .

    That he did.

American actor Rob Riggle and retired wrestler Nikki Bella hosted the event.

Chestnut and Kobayashi weren’t allowed to separate the hot dog from the bun or even dip either in water, which was allowed at Nathan’s contest.

“This is amazing,” Chestnut said after the victory.

“I’ve been trying to hit 80 hot dogs for years.

“Without Kobayashi, I was never able to do it. He drives me.

“We weren’t always nice to each other, but I love the way we push each other to be our best.”
