TACO Bell’s Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato is set to hit menus across the nation today — but some fans aren’t too happy.

Some customers have expressed disappointment with the exclusive way in which the Taco Bell dessert is available.

This unique frozen dessert has been in the works for some time, and its arrival this summer has been eagerly awaited by fans.

The Baja Blast Gelato, which features Mountain Dew’s beloved and Taco Bell-exclusive flavor, made its first appearance in August 2023, creating quite a buzz online.

Videos on TikTok captured customers rushing to stores to get their hands on the treat.

However, the initial release was limited to just one Taco Bell location, and it sold out in only three days.

This trial run proved to be a massive success, leaving many fans disappointed they couldn’t try it themselves.

Following the overwhelming demand, Taco Bell confirmed during its Live Mas Live Event earlier this year that the Baja Blast Gelato would return in 2024.

Tuesday, September 3 marks its official nationwide release, and fans can now grab the long-awaited dessert — but there’s a catch.

The fast food restaurant announced that the Baja Blast Gelato would only be available exclusively on the Taco Bell app.

Additionally, it appears each Taco Bell store has a limited supply of just 288 servings, so fans are encouraged to act fast if they want to try it.

There’s even a limit of four per customer.

Described by those lucky enough to try it as “100% fun,” the Baja Blast Gelato combines the iconic flavors of Mountain Dew’s Baja Blast with a creamy, frozen twist.

    ‘THE APP NEVER WORKS’

The app -exclusive offer is turning off some customers who were interested in the dessert.

Many are complaining about how they don’t use the app or do not have access to it.

“Some older people do not have a phone that uses apps…” wrote one person beneath a post made by food blogger Snackolater . “They have trouble getting stuff at McDonald’s because they don’t have an app phone.”

Taco Bell’s new Mountain Dew Baja Blast Gelato is rolling out at all locations nationwide today, but there’s a slight catch: It’s only available to Taco Bell Rewards Members who order through the Taco Bell app.

Signing up for the rewards program is quick, easy, and completely free.

Simply download the Taco Bell app, fill in your details, and you can indulge in the creamy, tropical lime-flavored Baja Blast Gelato as often as you like — at least until it leaves the menu.

“Looks good…but I do not do the apps,” wrote another.

A third added, “F**k these app exclusive s**t…”

Other customers are disappointed in how the app performs, with one user commenting, “The app never works in our area. We update it, uninstall, reinstall multiple people try it. Try it across multiple days. It’s so frustrating.”

Still, several people are excited to give the gelato a try, with several of them saying that they “can’t wait,” and those who have had them lauding the treat as “really good.”

Aside from the gelato, the chain has also promised a Baja Blast Pie that will hit locations “later this year.”

The U.S. Sun has also covered Taco Bell’s decision to allow locations to “opt out” of serving a popular menu option next month.

Plus, the cup size change that the fast food restaurant made.
