Police said they were called aboard one of the city’s Blue Line trains, near the suburb Forest Park, at around 5:30 am, according to a press release .

Cops revealed that three people were found dead at the scene and a fourth victim later died at a local hospital.

Davis was arrested and charged on Tuesday afternoon after he was located on a Pink Line train in the city’s Little Village area on Monday, around eight miles from the scene of the crime .

Forest Park’s Mayor Rory Hoskins revealed these victims likely did not see the shooter coming.

“They were shot execution-style as they slept,” Hoskins told The Associated Press .

Cops were able to locate the suspect through video footage on the train.

They were also able to retrieve a firearm from the suspect.

Police shared more horrifying details about the tragic incident.

They noted the four victims were on different parts of the train and were likely to have been homeless .

Simeon Bihesi, 28, died of multiple gunshots and Adrian Collins, 60, died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The third victim Margaret Miller, 64, was shot in the head.

Police have not shared the identity of the fourth victim as they identify their next of kin.

Cops listed the four victims’ addresses as unknown.

The Chicago Transit Authority shared that it would assist in the police investigation into this incident.

The CTA’s President Dorval Carter Jr. shared that the incident was believed to have been an isolated attack.

“Although this was an isolated incident, this heinous and egregious act of violence should never have occurred, none the less on a public transit traist train,” the CTA said in a statement.

Despite this, Mayor Hoskins shared how this incident had shaken the local community.

Hoskins said he was unable to recall a reported homicide from the Forest Park area in years.

“People are rattled. We want to make them feel safe,” he said.

The mayor called on the city to improve security measures on these public transit trains, according to NBC affiliate WMAQ-TV .

“Over the last two years, our number of responses have increased exponentially, so we are counting on leaders countywide, statewide, to invest in more resources to support a small community like Forest Park and securing this area,” Hoskins said.

Davis is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
