WALMART shoppers are once again complaining that the superstore is stuck in the past for not having a tap-to-pay method.

One shopper revealed that due to the lack of Apple pay, they were forced to abandon their cart which came out to over $400 in merchandise.

The angry customer then took out their frustrations on social media where they blasted Walmart.

"@Walmart I just walked out of a $439 grocery cart because you don’t have tap to pay," wrote the angry user on X.

"When you guys decide to embrace the 21st century, let me know."

The shopper is not the only person to have an issue with the retailer's refusal to adopt the payment method.

A second user also expressed their annoyance at the inconvenience.

"How tf Walmart don’t have Apple Pay," the person wrote in a post on Facebook.

"I left the cart like that’s y'all problem."

    STUCK IN THE PAST

Many people agreed with the post with many people saying that the brand is behind the times.

"They’ve never had it. Only store that doesn’t. They want you to use their app," commented one person.

Many others have stated that the reason behind the lack of contactless payment was that the brand wanted shoppers to use Walmart's app instead.

However, one user claimed that the app "never works."

"What’s the point of @Walmart pay if it never works?" the user

on X, adding that they had left all their items and gone to Target instead.

"Wish yall would just get with the times and accept Apple Pay like everyone else if you aren’t going to have a pay system that actually works."

Many shared the opinion that Walmart had become outdated because of its unwillingness to adapt.

Why doesn't Walmart offer Apple Pay?

CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don't offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that "We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time."

The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.

"That’s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for," he said.

One user stated that the absence of the payment form forced her to wait an additional 20 minutes since she had to call her partner and ask him to bring his credit card after accidentally leaving hers at home.

    WALMART EXPANSION

The U.S. Sun had previously reported that the brand's refusal to adopt the contactless payment was, as many people suspected, due to Walmart wanting shoppers to use their app.

"We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in an April press release.

According to McMillon, Apple Pay was a direct competitor to the brand's goals.

"We have this joint venture with Ribbit Capital called One, here in the US, and we have some other things including PhonePe going on in India as it relates to financial services," he explained.

"We’re still exploring that space and learning so it’s a fluid situation."

Although I’m not a fan of not being able to use Apple Pay. It’s simple…Just use Walmart Pay. Download the Walmart App & create a free account. Then add your credit or debit card. When you go to check out. Log into the Walmart App. Then tap Walmart Pay in the app. Scan the QR Code & press “Pay Now.” You will then be connected to the server. Scan your items & bag them. When finished just press “Pay” on the screen & head to the nearest exit.
