I bought a luxury purse at Goodwill for $14 – it was ‘such nice leather’ and the stitching proved it was worth $600

AFTER feeling the high-quality leather on a purse at the thrift store, a shopper realized it was actually from a luxury designer.

Shopping at thrift stores requires some patience and a keen eye for detail.

The tiniest tidbits signify that something is high quality and worth buying.

Monica (@monicampaulino) stopped into a Goodwill for a few minutes and stumbled upon a beige purse that looked too good to pass up.

"I had such low expectations, but if you thrift, you know it's always when you least expect it that you find a treasure," she said in the TikTok.

She felt the leather and immediately recognized it as high quality, so she kept digging through the bag.

The brand Mansur Gavriel was stamped on the outside. After looking it up, she found that the Bucket Bag is available in a variety of colors for up to $595.

Monica noticed the nice stitching on the inside of the purse and a "Made in Italy" stamp, which led her to believe it was authentic.

"All the good stuff is made in Italy, you guys. That's always a telltale sign!" she said.

Monica was in love with the large purse's drawstring opening, and she had actually been hoping to find a neutral-colored bag.

"I have literally been manifesting this since last summer, and here she is, baby, for just $14.99!" Monica said.

Viewers praised the find in the comments, calling it a "holy grail" thrift item.

"That would have been $49.99 at my thrift store. Behind the counter next to the Spanx leggings from three weeks ago for $29.99," joked another shopper.

"So happy people are still finding treasures!"

    HAUTE THRIFT

Finding designer items at thrift stores happens more often than most would think.

In the Thrift Store Hauls subreddit, another shopper found another luxury purse after a brief thrifting hiatus.

Here are some of the best thrift store finds:

"Haven’t gone thrifting in months," they wrote.

"[I] scored this 3.1 Philip Lim handbag yesterday for $11. [It's] probably my second-best thrifting find of all time."

Products from the high-end fashion brand sell for well into the thousands.

"When I saw it, I was like, 'Oh, quality leather bag. Oh, it’s 3.1 Philip Lim. Checked Google. Holy crap, it’s a $700 bag,'" they wrote.

"Now the only question is, do I keep it and use it or try to resell it?"

A quick trip to the thrift turned into a huge score for a shopper who found a vintage luxury recliner worth $1,800.

Another thirfter found a top-line kitchen appliance worth $400 for just $50.

Quit telling. It just raises the prices of stuff. There’s people who need stuff and can’t afford to even shop there anymore because they think everything is a treasure now. Geesh
