My sister-in-law wore a bridal gown to my wedding – it looked ‘cheap’ because of a fashion faux pas but I’m still angry

TWINNING when it comes to clothes can be a heartwarming event, but not when it’s your wedding day.

One furious woman shared how her sister-in-law tried to upstage her on her big day.

Redditor Heavy-Slice4216 shared the wedding fail in a post.

She explained that their relationship dynamic had been “good” until her husband proposed and wedding preparations began.

Soon after, she noticed a dramatic change in her in-law’s behavior, especially when it came to details about the upcoming ceremony.

“She evaded every conversation about her outfit before our wedding,” she said.

“Every time I asked her to show me what she was planning on wearing, I was met with either ghosting or simply being told I’ll get to see it at the wedding directly.”

In her excitement, the soon-to-be bride had shared photos of her wedding dress with her sister-in-law months in advance.

The decision proved to be her fatal mistake.

“Lo and behold, I get to the venue the day of the wedding to see her in this dress,” she said.

She revealed that the in-law had turned up in a floor-length champagne-colored gown.

“It looked really cheap on her [because] she wasn’t wearing appropriate underwear and just looked tacky overall [because] it didn’t fit her well,” she said.

“But I was pissed nonetheless since this was very similar to the silhouette of my wedding dress, except mine was ivory and not champagne.”

Despite her anger, the bride attempted to take the high road.

“I didn’t comment on her outfit or how she looked even once, while I complimented other girlfriends on how pretty they looked,” she said.

While she revealed that she wasn’t concerned about being upstaged, she still felt heavily disrespected.

“I wasn’t worried; of course, everyone attending knew who the bride and groom were,” she said.

“But it’s the need for wanting the attention to be on themselves at the cost of a friend on their big day (I truly did always consider her a good friend; it was common for us to always discuss our clothes/outfits like regular girlfriends do) that bothers me more.

“I saw a few comments that said I was stupid to ruin a friendship over a dress, but it’s really a lot more than that.

“Of course, I’ve kept my distance since and have gone [no contact] mostly.”

Other Redditors agreed that her sister-in-law was in the wrong.

“Likely half the people there were thinking, ‘Omg, why did she wear that?!’ My favorite game at weddings is ‘Spot who is dressed inappropriately,'” said one commenter.

“I can promise they were snickering behind her back. I hope you had a lovely day. You can hire someone to photoshop her out or in a different color dress.”

“Your SIL is definitely not a girl’s girl. That’s sad,” said another.

“I would love to be hired at weddings to splash people like this with red wine. Actually, you wouldn’t even need to pay me. I’d pay you,” said a third.

A very important message for the men out there is whose plan it is to attend any wedding as an invited guest as me!Don't even think about wearing the same BLACK TUXEDO, designed BOW TIE with matching POCKET SQUARE, TUXEDO SHOES; because if you do, you'll likely read about my hate for you on social media!
