    Who is CNN anchor Dana Bash? Meet John King’s ex-wife

    CNN’s chief political correspondent Dana Bash was once married to fellow network host John King.

    The journalist began working for CNN while she was in college and rose to become one of the well-known faces of the channel’s political programming.

    Who is CNN anchor Dana Bash?

    Dana Bash, nee Schwartz, was born on June 15, 1971, in New York .

    She is CNN’s chief political correspondent and anchors two political shows.

    She hosts the network’s weekday program Inside Politics With Dana Bash, taking over from her ex-husband, John King in 2023.

    At the time, King reportedly requested a new assignment centered on “voters in battleground states” ahead of the 2024 presidential election .

    Dana expressed her joy over her new role, stating: “After nearly 30 years at CNN covering campaigns, Capitol Hill , and the White House , I am excited to helm a program devoted to the politics that impact Americans’ lives.

    “John built an extraordinary show that has attracted a loyal audience of political junkies, and I am looking forward to leading its next chapter.”

    She also serves as co-anchor on the news channel’s Sunday talk show State Of The Union alongside colleague Jake Tapper .

    Dana co-hosted the first presidential debate of the 2024 election season alongside Jake on Thursday, June 27, in Atlanta.

    The event saw then presumptive Democrat nominee President Joe Biden and his predecessor, former President Donald Trump , face off.

    President Biden then withdrew his campaign less than a month later after his performance in the debate drew concern from across the political spectrum.

    On August 29, Dana hosted the exclusive first interview with subsequent Democratic nominees Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz soon after they secured their place on the party’s election ticket.

    Dana is also an author.

    Her book with David Fisher, America’s Deadliest Election, was published in September 2024.

    It tells the story of the most violent election in US history in 1872.

    When were John King and Dana Bash married?

    John and Dana married on May 25, 2008.

    He converted to Judaism prior to their wedding , as he was Roman Catholic and she is Jewish.

    The couple had one child, son Jonah King, who was born in June 2011.

    They separated after four years of marriage in March 2012.

    Prior to her marriage to John, Dana was wed to Jeremy Bash from 1998 to 2007.

    Jeremy served as chief of staff both at the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of Defense .

    John’s first marriage was to Jean Makie with whom he had two children, Noah and Hannah .

    Who are John King and Dana Bash dating now?

    John has not been reported to be dating anyone as of September 2024.

    The correspondent’s life is fairly private despite his status as a public figure.

    However, Dana has reportedly been in a long-term relationship with actor Spencer Garrett.

    Garrett, born on September 19, 1963, met Dana in 2013 following her divorce with King.

    In 2016, The Washington Post reported that the couple was “still going strong,” and in July 2023, Spencer was among the VIP crowd at a CNN event honoring Dana’s 30 years at the network, according to The Hill .
