FOO Fighters frontman Dave Grohl wrote a glowing tribute to his family - three years before announcing he has a secret love child.

The musician, who is commonly dubbed 'the nicest man in rock', shocked fans last night when he revealed he had become a father again at 55 outside of his marriage.

Grohl, who has three daughters with Jordyn - Violet, Harper and Ophelia - told his Instagram follower that he was working to regain the trust of his family following the baby's arrival.

"I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage," he posted.

"I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.

"We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together."

But in his 2021 memoir The Storyteller, Grohl couldn't have spoken more highly of Blum, calling her the "queen of my world".

Grohl wrote: "Our paths had crossed at a time when I thought I was forever doomed to live in the past, but through her strength and clarity, she showed me a future.

"Together we created my life's greatest achievement, my family. And, as our family grew, my appreciation for life did as well.

"With each child born, I was born again. With each step they took, I retraced my own."

He went on to insist being a dad was everything to him. He said: "Fatherhood eclipsed any dream, any wish, any song I had ever written, and as the years went by I discovered the true meaning of love. I no longer just live for myself; I live for them."

Unlike her husband, model and TV producer Jordyn has mainly stayed out of the spotlight during their marriage.

Occasionally she's worked alongside Dave as in when she starred in the music video for the Foo Fighters track White Limo.

She also helped direct the band's music video for Walking a Line in 2002.

The couple, who married in 2003, first met at a bar in 2001 but things did not get off on the right foot, according to the rock star.

"When I first met my wife, we went out on a few dates and I decided that I wasn't ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling," he told Elle.

Despite Dave not initially reaching out, he eventually made a U-turn.

"After three months, I had a revelation and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, 'Oh, I never thought I'd hear from you again,'" he recounted to the magazine.

Dave released a hit memoir in 2021

Before walking down the aisle with Jordyn, the performer was married to Jennifer Leigh Youngblood from 1994 to 1997.

After his romance with Youngblood, Grohl dated snowboarder Tina Basich for two years.

She claimed Dave cheated on her during their relationship in her 2003 memoir, Pretty Good for a Girl: The Autobiography of a Snowboarding Pioneer.

Tina detailed how busy Dave was because of his "multimillion-dollar record contracts, deadlines with record labels, music videos [and] press tours".

She added that he worked on all of the above while "trying to maintain a focus on being creative and writing music."

Nirvana's beat keeper Grohl first pounded his way into the limelight as the powerhouse drummer for grunge gods, Nirvana. With his thunderous rhythms driving classics like "Smells Like Teen Spirit," he became the heartbeat of a generation. But tragedy struck when frontman Kurt Cobain's untimely demise in 1994 left fans and bandmates reeling.

Foo Fighters: From grief to glory Grohl swapped his drumsticks for a guitar and microphone, birthing the Foo Fighters in 1995. The band's debut album, recorded entirely by Grohl himself, was an instant hit. Dave recruited a fine ensemble of musicians to make the band a more collaborative effort and they have gone on to rack up an enviable greatest hits collection including "Everlong", "The Pretender" and "Learn to Fly".

Collaborations and cameos: A star-studded rock odyssey! Never one to rest on his laurels, Grohl's star power attracted collaborations with rock titans like Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails and Paul McCartney. His uncanny knack for blending genres saw him jamming with everyone from punk legends to pop icons.

Documentaries and directorial dreams Grohl's talents extend beyond the stage. He directed the acclaimed documentary "Sound City" in 2013, celebrating the iconic recording studio. His 2014 HBO series "Sonic Highways" took fans on a musical road trip across America, blending history and harmony.

"The pressure was too much for our relationship to handle," she admitted.

"You can only give up so much of your heart and your career and your time and your spirit, and here I was, giving it all up for a guy and losing myself in the process."

She then spoke of how he was "taking time away from his career" and also putting hers "in the backseat without even realising it."

"I don’t know how anyone in his profession can have a normal relationship with a girlfriend…or two, as it turned out," she then revealed.

"I found out secondhand, through the grapevine, when it seemed like everyone else in the world knew about it but me.”
