Body found inside Food Lion store freezer as remains discovered by co-workers

AN employee was found dead in a freezer at the Food Lion grocery store they worked in.

The victim’s co-workers made the shock discovery at the chain’s location in Raleigh, North Carolina .

The man, who has not been named, was found dead in the store’s supply freezer.

This tragic incident happened at the branch on Capital Boulevard, just outside of the city’s downtown area, according to local CBS affiliate WNCN .

Police said they were called to the store on Monday night.

Cops revealed the man suffered from a medical emergency at work , where he later died.

Authorities added they currently believe there was no foul play involved in this death and he died of natural causes.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Food Lion and the Raleigh Police Department for comment.

EMPLOYEE DEATHS

This case has not been the first time a worker has unexpectedly died at work.

A Wells Fargo employee was found dead at her desk , The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

Denise Prudhomme, 60, was discovered at her office in Tempe, Arizona , around 10 miles outside of Phoenix.

Prudhomme had clocked into her job on August 16 around 7 am but was found dead on August 20 by on-site security.

An employee anonymously explained that the 60-year-old had been in her cubicle, away from the main row of desks.

They also claimed that a “foul odor” was smelled in the building but it was apparently dismissed as a plumbing issue.

This person also added that most of the office worked remote.

Police did not suspect foul play according to the preliminary investigation, according to CBS News .

Dead On The Job

The Food Lion employee isn't the only person to have died at work.

Finish Tax Auditor:

• In 2015, the body of a tax auditor in Finland was found two days after he died
• He died while checking tax returns in his office in Helsinki, according to Forbes
• He reportedly had his office doors closed and no one entered to check on him as they thought he wanted peace

Rebecca Wells:

• In 2011, Wells died at her cubicle in Los Angeles County, according to TIME
• However, her body wasn’t found until one day later
• her coworkers remembered her as someone who was ‘always working’

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague at our Tempe office,” Wells Fargo said in a statement.

An Arby’s manager was found dead in a walk-in freezer at their location in May 2023, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

The shocking incident happened at a branch in New Iberia, Louisiana , around 70 miles southwest of Baton Rouge.

Police reported that no foul play was believed to have taken place at the time.

Captain Leland Laseter of the New Iberia Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division shared information at the time, according to Fox affiliate KADN .

“A situation like this is unusual, so we’re taking extra precautions during the investigation,” he said.

“After completely processing the crime scene […] this does not seem like a homicide, it seems like an accident,” he added.
