UFC ‘s bantamweight champion Sean O’ Malley is married to wife Danya Gonzalez, after meeting at the gym in 2017.

Born in 1991, the champ’s spouse is a hairstylist, who owns her own salon.

Dana is also an influencer, and has a big following on Instagram .

She has been by O’Malley ‘s side for every step of his UFC journey.

It’s not known when the couple married, but their unconventional relationship has caused a stir.

Dana’s husband revealed how the couple are in an open marriage .

This admission from O’Malley got fans talking, with several taking to social media to criticize it.

However, the fighter has defended his open marriage with Dana.

O’Malley said he believes the concept of conventional marriages with 100 per cent monogamy is archaic.

During an episode of the TimboSugarShow he said: “Marriage when it was first introduced is when people’s life expectancy was 21 years old.

“It was so f***ing low, it was rare.

“So you were only married for a few years. Now, you have people that are married for 40, 50, 60 years.”

O’Malley insists the open aspect of his relationship with his wife doesn’t mean he loves her any less than a husband in a traditional marriage.

Speaking again on his podcast, he said in 2023: “I’m a king, I pay for everything. I treat Danny like a queen.

If I was an average Joe, it probably wouldn’t be fair. But I feel like I’m f***ing King Kong.

“If I get a little p**s on the side, what does that have to do with anything?

“I have testosterone running through my veins – it’s that f***ing simple.

“I wouldn’t say that if I was in the opposite position, if I wasn’t paying for everything, if I wasn’t successful.

“If I was an average Joe, it probably wouldn’t be fair. But I feel like I’m f***ing King Kong.”

The birth of their daughter Elena

The couple have one child together.

Their daughter Elena was born in 2020.

Speaking to YouTube sports interviewer Helen Yee about having children, he said: “I’ve known I have wanted kids since I was a little dude.

“I remember being 12 years old, 13 years old, breaking up with this girl because she didn’t want kids, so I’ve wanted kids for a long time”.
